The Sims 2 Home Move is the eighth and final expansion pack to play The Sims 2 on PC. It is dedicated to what the name itself says: apartments and apartment life. If you have this game and want to know how you can make a wonderful apartment like apartments already built and ready for sale, then this article is for you.

Steps

1. 1 Choose what type of apartment you want. There are three different types of apartments that can be created. These are condominiums, townhouses and connected apartments. Condominiums are separate apartments. The townhouses are connected, but they have a garage and a separate roof for each of the apartments. Connected apartments are apartments that are located in the same building.
2. 2 Make a plot for your apartment. Connected apartments can be 3x3, condominiums 3x4 and townhouses 5x2. These are just guidelines, but size really matters.
3. 3 Enter cheat codes to build. Press Ctrl, Shift and C to activate the cheat box. Enter the following cheats:
   • changelotzoning apartmentbase
   • boolProp aptBaseLotSpecificToolsDisabled false
   • "changelotzoning apartmentbase" changes the plot to an apartment one. You can tell by the mailbox, which should turn into a mailbox with a lot of cells. boolProp aptBaseLotSpecificToolsDisabled false allows you to add doors, walls, etc.
4. 4 Start by creating a foundation (if desired) and exterior walls. If you have a foundation, then don't forget about the stairs. Avoid boxes and don't make the building too big or small! Remember, each lot should have between 3 and 4 apartments, so make sure you get the right size.
5. 5 Add windows, front door and roof. Try to insert windows throughout the building, otherwise there will be insufficient light in it. The front door can be any door other than a door with a rug, otherwise the sim will shoot the entire building. A real roof or floor covering can be used as a roof. To do it, click on the Roof tool button, and then drag the roof wherever you want. You can choose the color of the roof. To apply flooring, go to the Floor tool and then stretch the floor over the desired area.
6. 6 Choose a covering for the exterior walls. It can be stone, bricks, panels - whatever you want. To speed up the process, hold down Shift before clicking on the wall. The whole area is covered! Do this for every floor of your home.
7. 7 Make a lobby. All apartment buildings in The Sims 2 have a lobby. Make a medium-sized room on the ground floor (not counting the foundation) with a fireplace, sofas, tables, etc.This is the main room where Sims can be. Remember, The Sims 2 Apartment Move comes with vending machines!
8. 8 Create the interior walls of the apartments and add a door to each apartment.
9. 9 Fill each apartment with interior walls, wallpaper, and simple furnishings. The trick above works for floors as well. Here is a list of simple furniture that every apartment should have:
   • Plumbing: sink, bath or shower, toilet
   • Kitchen: kitchen counters, stove, refrigerator
   • Ceiling lighting
   • Closet
10. 10 Create an outdoor environment. This could be a garden, a fence, or a playground for little Sims. You can even add a pool! Be creative, but even a bush or two makes a big difference! Another good idea is to put lanterns and benches on the street.

Tips

• Don't put the bed down. When a Sim moves into an apartment, she will simply disappear.
• Apartments don't have to be exactly the same!
• Apartments can be one- or two-story.
• Don't forget the garage for the townhouse!
• Make sure no Sims live on the lot when using the "changelotzoning apartmentbase" cheat.
