Craigslist is a free online classifieds service that allows you to place ads based on geographic location and specific categories such as work, dating, goods for sale, or household services. The service is an online version of classic newspaper ads. This article will show you how to sell your car on Craigslist.

Steps

1. 1 Go to the Craigslist website.
2. 2 Select your country and city. Craigslist allows you to post ads based on your location. By choosing a country, city and the nearest area, you simplify purchases and meetings for the exchange of goods.
3. 3 Click on the “post to classifieds” link near the top left corner.
4. 4 Select the “for sale” category. Note: You cannot sell items that have been revoked or banned.
5. 5 Select “cars & trucks- by dealer” or “cars & trucks- by owner” depending on whether you are a private seller or a certified dealer. (This example uses the "by owner" option).
6. 6 Select the area closest to you.
   • Alternatively, you can go to the Craigslist forums and follow the onscreen instructions in the upper right corner next to your request for a new Craigslist zone.
     
     
7. 7 Enter a title for your post, include a price per car, a specific pickup location, and an email address to receive responses from interested users. And also enter a description of your product. Include all details for the users who will view your ad. You can leave a phone number or other means of contact if you want to answer questions from interested users.
8. 8 You can add images of your car by clicking on the “Add / Edit Images” button. An editor will open with the ability to add up to 4 photos of your car. Click on the “Choose File” button to upload a file from your computer.
9. 9 Recheck your ad. Before submitting your ad, you will have the opportunity to preview and see how it will look to potential buyers. If you want to change something and continue editing your ad, then click on the "Edit" button. Otherwise, click on the “Continue” button to continue the process and place your ad.
10. 10 Read the terms of use for rules and policies related to listing and selling items on Craigslist. Click on the “Accept the terms of use” button to agree to the terms and continue the process of placing your ad.
11. 11 Enter the confirmation code shown in the picture and click on the “continue” button to place your ad.
12. 12 Receive a confirmation email to the specified email address and click on the link.
13. 13 Click on the “publish” button at the top of the page to post your ad on Craigslist and complete the process.
    • You can also click on the "edit" or "delete" button to continue editing or delete your ad.
      
      

Tips

• Include as many realistic details as possible about the product you are selling. Potential buyers can ignore your ad if you haven't included details that make your ad more truthful. This is especially important for high value items such as cars.

Warnings

• Craigslist does not edit or re-read the posted ads. So you yourself are responsible for the content of your ad.
