PayPal is a payment system that deals with private and commercial money transfers on the Internet. With PayPal, users can pay for goods and services, and simply transfer money to anyone. The company was founded in 2000 and is currently available in over 150 markets and supports payments in 24 countries. Anyone can use the system to accept payments, here's how.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Create an account

1. 1 To get started, visit the PayPal homepage. To open a PayPal business account, click on the "Business" tab at the top of the page. Click on the "Start" button in the center of the page.
   • You can also open an account for personal use.
2. 2 Next, select "Create a new account."Follow the instructions for creating a merchant account. Once the information you have provided has been verified, you will be able to accept credit card payments online, by phone, mail, fax, as well as electronic checks and email payments.
   • To create an account, you will need to provide an email address and basic information about your business.
3. 3 Use the Custom Solutions tab. If you don't want to run a business but would still like to use PayPal to receive funds, please use the Custom Solutions tab at the top right of the Business page. There you can choose something that suits you. There is an option for non-commercial organizations, political campaigns, government and financial services, educational institutions, digital goods. Choose the category that suits you.

Method 2 of 4: Placing the "Pay with PayPal" button on your site

1. 1 If you haven't already, create a PayPal account. You will need it to add a key. This allows your customers to simply click a button and make a payment using a credit or debit card or checking bank account.
   • You can also send invoices to PayPal through the "Buy Now" button linked to PayPal. This way your customers can pay right away.
2. 2 Log into your account. To do this, just enter your email address and password.

Method 3 of 4: Using a mobile device

1. 1 With PayPal, you can accept credit card payments on your Apple or Android device. This is especially convenient for small business owners who receive most of their payments on the street.
2. 2 Download the PayPal Here app. It can be found in the Apple Store and Google Play Store. Install the app.
3. 3 Run the application. You will need to log into your PayPal account. You will be offered to send a card reader to the postal address free of charge. The app will confirm the address and phone number. To complete the registration, indicate the confirmation code sent to you by mail.
4. 4 Update your business information. You can specify location, website and Facebook. This information will appear on customer receipts.
5. 5 Follow the instructions to create a payment scheme. The easiest option is to enter each sale separately, you can also create a list of products with different prices. When the customer is ready to pay, connect a PayPal card reader to their device. You will receive a "Card Reader Connected" alert.
6. 6 Enter the customer's purchase amount. On the next page, select "Map". Swipe through the reader with the customer's card.

   • If you haven't received a reader yet, credit card payments can still be accepted. You will need to manually enter the data on the card or scan it with your phone.
7. 7 Let the client sign directly on your device. Click on "Complete Purchase" to complete the sale and receive payment.

Method 4 of 4: Via email (as an independent vendor)

1. 1 You will need an email address and an associated PayPal account. If you are an independent provider, this is all it takes to receive payments online. This is especially handy for freelancers. Many businesses working with freelancers prefer this method: it is simple and convenient.
   • Your employer also needs a PayPal account for this method. Find out in advance if he agrees with this form of payment.
   • If the person making the payout does not have a PayPal account, you can also receive money from them. Once you are logged into your account, click the "Submit Request" button. On the next page, click the "Request money" button and enter the user's email address and the requested amount. On the next page, add a note if you like. Click the request button and PayPal will send the request and let you know when the payment is due.
2. 2 To get paid, simply tell the employer the email linked to your PayPal account. You don't have to do anything else.
3. 3 After completing the payment, log into your account. On the "My Account" page, select "Withdraw Funds". Next, you will see the various possible options:
   • Withdraw funds to a bank account (free.)
   • Mail a check (for $ 1.50.)
   • Order a PayPal debit card (free.)
   • Withdraw funds from ATM (for $ 1.00.)
   • Please note that after receiving the money, a letter should come to your email linked to PayPal, it should contain instructions for withdrawing money.
4. 4 Next, enter your payment information. Depending on the method you choose, you may be asked to provide your bank account number, address, and more. It takes 3-4 days to transfer to a bank account, and 5-10 days to receive a check or debit card.

Tips

• If you choose not to link your bank account or credit card to your PayPal merchant account, you can apply for a PayPal Extras MasterCard. If the application is approved, the card can be used to verify the PayPal account.
• In addition to cards, PayPal Here can accept payments by check, cash and invoice. You do not need a card reader for this.
• PayPal accepts a variety of currencies.

Warnings

• Only paid PayPal accounts are insured against credit card transactions that are canceled by the customer.
• ISVs with free accounts can initially charge up to $ 500 per month. To withdraw more, you need to raise the limit in "My Account" and "View Limits".
• PayPal's Merchant Protection Program is only available to verified users. This program will compensate your expenses if the bank accepts the closing of the payment by your client, and if the merchant followed the rules set by PayPal.
