This seemingly hallucinogenic cake is great for any occasion, including a baby's birthday or any other celebration where a rainbow of colors will be appreciated. What's more, it's absolutely amazing! It turns out 6-8 servings.

Ingredients

• 1 pack of white cake mix
• 1 pack of classic gel food colors
• 355 ml of pure soda; e.g. 7-Up or Sprite

Steps

1. 1 Place the cake mixture in a mixing bowl. Add the soda and beat until the dough is completely dissolved in the soda. (You will see some foam at the beginning, but don't worry, it will go away as you continue to whisk.)
2. 2 If you are using packaged cake mix, do not follow the instructions on the box. Just use the cake mix powder.
3. 3 Divide the dough between 6 bowls. Pour most of the dough into the first bowl, then gradually reduce the amount in each subsequent bowl. Bowl 6 should have the least amount of mixture.
4. 4 Choose the color of your choice. Squeeze out the dye about the size of a dime (18 mm) into Bowl 1. Continue doing this with other colors with the rest of the bowls. Stir the dough into the dough.
5. 5 Pour half the contents of Bowl 1 into the center of the baking sheet. Don't worry about distribution.
6. 6 Pour in half of Bowl 2 right over the center of the first layer. Continue doing this with bowls 3 to 6. After you pour in the last bowl, you will notice that the dough begins to take the shape of a baking sheet.
7. 7 Continue layers for the second baking sheet, but in reverse order of colors. This will add visual texture to the cake cut.
8. 8 Bake in oven at 180ºC for 15-20 minutes.
9. 9 Stick a toothpick into the center of the cake to make sure it's baked. If the toothpick remains clean, then the cake is ready!
10. 10 Remove from oven and leave to cool.
11. 11 Serve. You can decorate the cake with cream or icing if you like. Otherwise, it is good on its own, as the many colors make it interesting enough.
