The following recipe will help you make hot, crumbly American cookies using flour mixed with baking powder. This recipe is very simple and will not take much of your time; and the dough is very easy to freeze, so you can make large quantities of cookies and enjoy them whenever you want! Are you ready to taste crispy and buttery biscuits? Then read on!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250 g) flour mixed with baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 1/3 cup (70 g) baking fat
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) milk (you may need 2/3 to 3/4 cup milk (160 to 180 ml))
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 220ºC (425ºF)
  2. 2 Prepare a baking sheet. Lubricate a baking sheet or baking paper with oil or nonstick spray.
  3. 3 Prepare the surface to knead the dough. A worktop covered with wax paper is ideal. Sprinkle generously with flour.
  4. 4 Mix dry ingredients. Add flour, baking powder, salt and sugar (if you are using it) to a large bowl and stir well.
  5. 5 Add vegetable fat for baking. Use your hand or hand blender to blend butter, fat, or margarine with dry ingredients until the mixture resembles bread crumbs. Just do not knead the dough for too long, otherwise the cookies will not be too flaky.
  6. 6 Add milk. Add milk slowly and stir until smooth and dough.
  7. 7 Let the dough rest. Shape the dough into a ball and place it on a floured surface and let it rest for 5 minutes. Then begin to gently knead the dough; align the ball with your palms, and then form the ball again (and so on 10 times).
  8. 8 Roll out the dough. Depending on how thin you prefer the cookies, roll out the dough using a rolling pin or by opening it with your hands (1 to 2 centimeters thick).
  9. 9 Cut the dough using 5 cm. form for the test. Dust the pan with flour first for best results. Do not twist the pan as you shape the cookie, just lower it and then lift it up. It's okay if the shape of the cookie isn't perfect.
  10. 10 Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet. Place it in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. 11 Enjoy! Serve with butter, honey, jam, syrup or sauce.

Tips

  • To make the cookies tender, place them close to each other on a baking sheet.
  • You can use cold butter instead of baking fat. The taste will change a little, but it will still be delicious.
  • Use the correct amount of milk to keep the dough soft. Too much milk will make the dough too soft and difficult to cut.
  • Cover the baking sheet with foil and then apply a non-stick spray to help you clean the baking sheet later.
  • Use Crisco Baking Fat for the best taste.
  • This recipe is easy to freeze. Cover the baking sheet with wax paper and then, when you cut the dough, place it on the baking sheet and freeze. When the dough is frozen, place it in a freezer bag and bake at any time.

Warnings

  • Be careful with hot baking sheets.
