Business and personal relationships are becoming more and more global as communication technologies are constantly evolving. As a result, more and more people are faced with the need to make international calls, for example, to Germany. The process is actually easier than most people think. Now it is easy to call Germany by home phone, cell phone, or using a computer.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Calling the phone

1. 1 Dial the exit code. This will tell the telephone company that you are calling a telephone outside of Russia. Dial "8" - intercity access code. Then immediately, without a pause, dial "10" - the international access code.
   • If the call is made from a cell phone, the + symbol can be used instead of 8-10.
2. 2 Dial the country code. This is a code that tells the telephone company where to route the call. For Germany, this is 49.
3. 3 Dial the main number with area code. Dial the area code followed by the phone number of the person you are trying to call.
   • Dial the number carefully, press the numbers in the correct order.
4. 4 Wait for a dial tone. It may take longer than usual to connect.

Method 2 of 3: How to find a caller's number

1. 1 Find the number you want to call. If you do not know him, then look for him on the Internet, in your notebook, find out from a family member, or directly from the person you are trying to call.
2. 2 Make sure you know the area code. The area code will be 2-5 digits long. Without an area code, the phone number will be 3-9 digits. Typically, the number you will be calling will be 9 digits long. So if the number you are holding in your hands is only 9 digits, then you need to find out the area code.
   • Find out the area code where you are calling and see if it matches the first digits of the number you have.
3. 3 Make sure the phone number is correct. International calls are generally expensive, so calling the wrong number will cost you dearly. If you could not get a number directly from the person or office representative you are going to call, then you can find international telephone directories on the Internet, where the numbers of individuals and legal entities are indicated.

Method 3 of 3: Call using Skype

1. 1 Install Skype on your computer. This program can be downloaded for free from the official Skype website. It can even be installed as an app on your smartphone!
2. 2 Open a Skype account. Buy Skype Credit or get a subscription. Calls to phones cost money, but they are much cheaper than calling from your home phone.
3. 3 Buy a microphone and headphones if needed. If you are using a computer, you must have a microphone and headphones (or speakers), otherwise you will not hear them, and they will not be able to hear you! Some computers are sold with built-in microphones already.
4. 4 Find the phone number as described above. You will still need it to make a Skype call.
5. 5 Open the dialer window and enter the number. Open the program and click the dialer button with the phone icon (usually on the left). Once you have entered the number, press the green call button. Once you finish speaking, press the red end button.

Tips

• When calling Germany from a cell phone, make sure that the phone's battery is fully charged and that the signal strength is sufficient. Refrain from unnecessary movement to avoid costly drops or disconnects.
• If you are calling from the USA and you need operator assistance, you can dial 01 instead of the international code 011. The rest of the dialing order remains unchanged. As soon as you dial the number, listen to the operator's instructions.
• When calling Germany from your home phone, then research international calling rates from several companies to find the least expensive one. You can buy special telephone cards from them. So an international call can get you cheaper.

Warnings

• Before calling Germany from a cell phone, find out how much your provider charges for long distance calls per minute. Prices will differ from standard domestic calls, and will vary depending on the country called. If you often call Germany, then think, maybe you should buy one of their tariff plans from your provider, which include international calls.
