If you want to build a fortress that is invisible, not too big or expensive, then follow these tips and have fun. And if this idea seems incredible to you, then try to surpass our advice!

Steps

  1. 1 Get permission. Make sure you're not encroaching on someone else's territory - you don't want problems with the police, your parents, neighbors, or those around you.
  2. 2 Find a good location (best if it is your backyard or field) where there are no roots from trees, cement, and various rocks below / above the ground. Make sure there are no electrical, sewer or gas lines in the area. They are very dangerous.
  3. 3 Dig a hole in the ground anywhere 3 meters deep (for small cover) or 6 meters deep (it may take a while, but it's worth it) or even more!
  4. 4 Make sure you clear your location and check that there are no threats in the area, such as cobblestones or roots. If there is a cobblestone on the territory, get rid of it, or for example, make a small shelf for your lantern, in the place where the stone was. If you find the root of a tree, cut it down until the ground is level with your wall.
  5. 5 When you're happy with the size of your pit, look for roof materials. The best material is long planks (you can rummage in the trash can and find some, or buy some planks at a hardware store for a low price). Long planks will only be useful if you know that no one will be walking on your fortress. Once you have enough planks, place them on the hole so that there is 1 or 2 inches of space.
  6. 6 Find things that will fill the holes in your wall. If they are small enough, clay or dirt (or even pine cones) can save the day. But if the holes are large, try to find pegs or pine cones to cover them completely.
  7. 7 If you're still hoping for a decent roof, tarp work will keep you out of the rain. Just set it on top, and place a couple of cobblestones as a mount. It is not necessary to always install the tarpaulin outside. On the inside, make tabs as you would with stones, and connect the tarp with these tabs, as if you were hammering a stake into it or gauging its power with stones.
  8. 8 Find things that will hide your fortress. If you built it in a field, look for grass and dirt. And if you made it in the forest, find leaves and small sticks so that your construction is no different from normal soil.
  9. 9 Place things around your fortress that will also look like stone walls made from sharp sticks so that people don't have the urge to walk around your structure. No matter how well and firmly you did it, you don't want people to walk around your fortress. ...
  10. 10 Start digging another hole near the base of the fortress, but remember to relate width to length as close as you can. This means that a fortress of six feet and two meters deep will collapse immediately, while the 4-foot entrance to the fortress will remain stationary.
  11. 11 A small hole should lead to another room. When you finish the tunnel, start digging a small cube-shaped room. This will be the center of your fortress.
  12. 12 To make the situation even more fun, place tables in specially dug areas of the room. You can even set any tablecloths on the tables for a better look. For maximum success, design chairs, bookshelves, and sofas! Create games and chat with friends.
  13. 13 Enjoy your fortress! Bring whatever you need there (use lanterns, not candles) and try to avoid most foods as this can attract the attention of the animals.
  14. 14 If your fortress is near your home, you might want to run electricity there. Find the extension cord you need and dig a small trench. After that, use electrical tape or duct tape to tape the ends together and MAKE SURE your cord is plugged into a secure system. Then route the cord through the entrance (or wherever you like). Then pass lights, moisture wicking devices, burglar alarms, or even a small TV!

Warnings

  • It is a good idea to have an emergency exit (at least one), and you can get out if something is an obstacle to the exit from the main entrance.
  • Take your phone in case of an emergency.
  • Before you start digging, discuss it with your local authorities and make sure that there are no underground utilities in the area. Such transmission lines, especially gas or electricity, can be very dangerous.
  • Make sure that the area you are digging is yours only. Excavating someone else's area is an act of vandalism and is against the law.
  • Be careful with any building materials. This may sound silly, but be careful with hammers, nails, drills, shovels, axes, and so on.
  • Make sure none of your substrates are rusty or rotten. Unstable supports can be dangerous for the occupants of the structure.
  • Make sure you build your structure away from trails and paths. If someone walks the top of your fortress, it can settle down easily.
  • Never dig deeper than you are digging longitudinally to avoid collapse. Breaking a wall is very dangerous. Reinforce the walls with planks.
  • Reinforce your little "cave" with planks, logs or something like that. If this is a cave, it can be dangerous and even deadly.
  • When placing objects around your fort, make sure they are not sharp so that people will not step on them and hurt themselves. It is best to use cobblestones, both in the forest and in the field.
  • Never light a fire in your fortress. It can destroy or even cripple someone.
  • Be careful when looking for material. Watch out for wood chips and anything that could be dangerous.
  • Remember how many meters you are allowed to dig, you may even have to call someone to locate wires and pipes.
