You can get on Family Wars by sending out video applications or through personal listening. The audition for the show is pretty straight forward and casting directors have very few restrictions on candidates. If you want to get to the show, here's what you need to know.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Submitting an Application

  1. 1 Apply when you're ready. Show Family Wars accepts applications on an ongoing basis, so you can submit your family details as soon as you are ready.
    • The chances of being accepted or noticed will increase if you mail your profile at the exact time the show is actively looking for contestants. You can determine when the show is looking for members on a regular basis and when the show continues to listen live. Typically, the time frame is from mid-January to mid-April.
    • You can also call the recruiting hotline to check if it is really worth submitting your application. The hotline telephone number is 323-762-8467.
  2. 2 Learn the rules. If you do not meet the basic requirements of the applicant, your application will be automatically rejected.
    • You must have five family members, including you. Everyone must be blood related, married or legally related.
    • All family members must be US citizens or have a US work permit
    • None of the participants in the proposed group should be associated or personally familiar with the person who works in the show Family Wars, Fremantle Media, Debmar-Mercury, or Wanderlust Productions. No one can be associated with or know a partner who is involved in running the show.
    • None of the proposed teams can be associated with persons holding political office.
    • None of the members of the proposed group were supposed to participate in more than two game shows last year.
    • People who have already been on the show for the past ten years are not eligible.
    • There is no age limit, but the producers of the show recommend recruiting participants over 15 years old for a team.
    • You must pay attention to the form in the application and confirm that all family members agree with the requirements. You can either add this information to the video or do it in writing when you transmit the video.
  3. 3 Prepare your video. Make a short video that introduces your family in the most informative, innovative way.
    • The video should be between three and five minutes long.
    • Start your video by getting to know each member of the proposed group. All five team members must appear on the video, and each person must introduce themselves.
    • When preparing your introduction, say something interesting about yourself. You can talk about your place in the family, work, hobby, or anything else that makes you stand out. The main idea is to be both informative and unique.
    • Do your best to stand out. Try playing the practice round or with props. Be energetic and remain yourself. You have to get the casting committee to see how enthusiastic your family is in arriving at the show, because enthusiasm creates more spectacle.
  4. 4 Submit your application by mail to the appropriate address. You can either email your video as a YouTube link or mail it as a DVD.
    • Upload videos to YouTube and email at [email protected]
    • Burn the video to DVD and mail it to: Fremantle Media NA, 4000 West Alameda Ave, Burbank, CA 91505, to: Family Feud Casting Dept.
    • Add information in your letters, which city and state you are from.

Part 2 of 3: Auditions

  1. 1 Find out where and when. Competitive auditions are usually held between mid-January and mid-April, but you should check the show's official casting website for more specific information. Family Wars.
    • Auditions usually take place shortly before the new season.
    • Auditions are usually held in four to six cities across the United States. They take place over two weekends at each location.
  2. 2 Review the requirements. No team can audition if its members violate the basic rules of the show.
    • All family members must be US citizens. Anyone who is not a citizen of the country must at least have a work permit in the United States.
    • No member of the proposed group should be associated with or personally know a person who works for Family Wars, Fremantle Media, Debmar-Mercury, or Wanderlust Productions, or any of its affiliates.
    • None of the proposed teams can be associated with persons holding political positions.
    • People who have already done more than two game shows in the past year are not eligible. Similarly, the one who participated in the Family Wars over the past ten years.
    • There is no age limit for the show, but it is recommended to select participants over 15 years old for a team.
  3. 3 Find out your listening schedule. To make sure your family gets a chance to audition, you need to send an e-mail to the appropriate casting department in the city in which you will audition.
  4. 4 Don't be late. Your family will be assigned the exact time and date for the audition. It's best to show up at least an hour before the start to make sure you have time to sign up.
  5. 5 Fill out the forms. Once verified, your family will be given forms to fill out before the actual audition. The families who complete all forms first will be the first to audition.
    • Prepare to fill out basic information such as name, age, and other qualifying facts.
    • Write an "interesting fact" about yourself. This information may relate to your work, hobbies, or anything else that makes you stand out.
    • Prepare a story about your family. Again, the more unique it is, the more sympathy for your family will be from the casting committee.
    • Explain what you will do with the money if you win. Families who have a proposal or a plan are more likely to be accepted than those who have not yet decided.
  6. 6 Play a practice game. After filling out the forms, the host will offer to play two rounds of the game for practice.
    • In the first round, you will make faces as the other team prepares to steal.
    • In the second round, the other team will make faces as your team prepares to steal.
    • Winning or losing a round does not affect your audition progress.
    • In practice, the game is played in front of an audience of other families auditioning.
    • Be energetic and natural. Overall, your family needs to be enthusiastic in order to get the casting director's attention. If one of your family members is a little constrained, give that person the opportunity to behave naturally, instead of trying to force him to impersonate who he really is.While the rest of the family members are excited and support one person, who knows, maybe there is still a chance.
    • Don't worry about the correct answers. You have to take the show seriously, but at the end of the show, the casting team will give more benefit to families who stood out than to those who answered all the questions correctly. Being an artist is more important than being a genius.

Part 3 of 3: Wait for a decision

  1. 1 Wait for an answer. If the casting team liked what they saw at the audition or in your app, you will receive an invitation in the mail.
    • You should receive your invitation within a month or two of your audition. If you submit an offer between seasons, you may not receive a return response for several months after the end of the next round of auditions.
    • If your family does not receive your invitation in the mail, then you were not accepted. You will not receive a formal denial notice.
  2. 2 Let the show organize your trip. If your family is accepted, the producers will book flights, hotel and transportation for you in Atlanta, Georgia, where the show is being filmed. The show will also cover all additional costs.
    • The shooting date is determined without your participation, but if you have unforeseen circumstances that prevent your family from flying out on a certain date, you can demand that the terms be revised. It is best to warn about this even before choosing the date of your shooting.
  3. 3 Try again if desired. If your family has not been selected to participate in the show, you can reapply next year or any other year later.
    • The only time you cannot re-apply is if one of your members has already played on a different team. None of the teams should have members who have been on the show for the past ten years.
