Kanto is the first land in Pokemon history! Whether you're playing a classic game or a remastered game, sometimes difficulties can arise. In this article, you can learn a few simple steps to help you find your way into the world of Kanto Pokemon and get all 8 badges!

Steps

1. 1 After getting your first Pokemon, go to Pewter City to get your first badge. When you exit Pallet Town in Viridian City, you will see a hall. This is where you get the last badge. Head north from Viridian City to the Viridian Forest.
2. 2 After you walk through the Viridian Forest, head north to Pewter City! The leader of the hall in Pewter City is Brock, the Pokémon stone type trainer.
3. 3 When you exit the Pewter City Gym, move to the right of the city, where there is a guy who will not let you through.
4. 4 Follow the path and fight all the trainers. Follow the path north to the Pokemon Center. On your right is the cave entrance that leads to Mount Moon. Go inside and go through the cave.
5. 5 When you exit the cave, continue to the right until Cerulean City. Cerulean City is the home of Misty, the leader of the Aquatic Pokémon Hall.
6. 6 After defeating Misty, head north from Cerulean City and fight your opponents and trainers on Nugget Bridge.
7. 7 Move east and fight the trainers. (For those looking to catch Mew later, remember which trainers you shouldn't fight).
8. 8 Moving west, you will see a house, go inside and talk to Bill. You will receive a ticket for the St. Anne.
9. 9 Then, return to Cerulean City and find a house with a policeman standing next to it. Go inside and exit from the back where you will meet a Team Rocket member.
10. 10 After defeating him, head south (be careful not to fall, as you will have to return) and keep moving down until you see a small building on the right. This is the Underground Tunnel that leads to Vermillion City.
11. 11 Go inside and move down the stairs. Then go up the stairs at the other end and exit the building. Head south of the building and fight the Vermillion City trainers!
12. 12 You won't be able to fight the coaches at the moment, unfortunately. If you have already visited the hall, then there will be a tree on the way to it. Before the battle with the leader of the hall in Vermillion City, you need to take a cruise to St. Anne to get the HM01-Cut.
13. 13 Heal your Pokemon and head south of the city, then east until you see a small passage in the water that looks like a dock. Move along the aisle until you see a sailor who checks the tickets and lets you on the ship.On board, you can fight more trainers and level up your Pokemon, do it! Don't worry about the ship sailing and your Pokemon needs treatment, the ship won't sail until you get the HM Cut and leave the ship.
14. 14 You will meet your rivals on the second floor of the ship, so get ready. You will see the sick captain next to the trash can and you can pat him on the back to cheer him up. (Stand next to him and press the B button) He will thank you and give you HM Cut! If you are not going to fight other trainers, you can leave the ship and challenge the leader of the gym in Vermillion City!
15. 15 Vermillion City Gym is the home of Lt. Surge, the leader of the electric Pokemon hall!
16. 16 After defeating Lt. Surge, you need to get the Rainbow badge. First, you need HM Flash. Head east next to the docks in Vermilion City in the same place you were heading for the HM Cut and continue east to the cave.
17. 17 This is Diglett's cave, you have to go through it to get the HM Flash. When you exit the cave, head south towards the large building and go inside. Inside, you will see Professor Oak's assistant, talk to him and he will give HM Flash.
18. 18 When you get the Flash, return to Diglett's Cave in Vermillion, and from here return to Cerulean City by following the Underground Tunnel.
19. 19 When you exit the Underground Tunnel, head to the server, you will see a road to the east, blocked by a tree. Use the CUT to cut it and follow the road.
20. 20 After a while you will see a large meadow of grass, go south to the Pokemon Center, then west, you will notice a cave. This is Rock Tunnel, go inside and use Flash. Walk through the cave and exit the other side.
21. 21 After exiting the Rock Tunnel, head south until you see a small town called Lavender Town. There are no hall leaders in this city, but it will play an important role after earning the Rainbow badge.
22. 22 Head west from Lavender Town and go through all the trainers. At the end, you will notice two buildings; you won't be able to go through the building on the left, but the building to the north is another Underground Tunnel that is used to go to Celadon City, where you can get the Rainbow badge.
23. 23 When you go through the tunnel, you will notice the same building on the right, through which you cannot go. To gain access to move through these buildings in Green / Blue / Red / Yellow, you will have to go to the Super Mart in Celadon, buy a drink, and talk to the guard inside the building. Ditto for Leafgreen / Firered, except you'll need tea for the old lady at the Mansion in Celadon City. Talk to the guard and he will accept your drink. Now you can go through this and other buildings, without the need to use underground tunnels.
24. 24 Celadon City is located west of where the Underground Tunnel exit is. Heal your Pokémon and head south to Celadon City. You will find a wall and a tree next to it. Use the CUT to cut down a tree and follow the road. Head west towards Celadon City Hall.
25. 25 The hall in Celadon City is the home of Erika, the leader of the herbal Pokemon hall.
26. 26 To move to the next hall, you will have to move Snorlax to Bike Road. To do this, you need to go to the Celedon Gaming Building, move up towards the Rocket member (the guy in black), defeat him, and click on the poster that was behind him. A staircase will appear and you will have to complete the mission inside, defeat Giovanni and receive the Stilth Scope.
27. 27 Once you get the Stilth Scope, return to Lavender Town and head towards the Pokemon Tower. Complete your mission inside and save Mr. Fuji. After you save Mr. Fuji, talk to him at his house (you will be taken to his house immediately after rescuing him) and you will receive the Pokeflute.
28. 28 Return to Celedon City and head west, then fight Snorlax. After winning / capturing, cut down the tree above you, head west through the building, go inside the house and get HM Fly.
29. 29 Return to where Snorlax was and go through the building towards Bike Road. Bike Road will take you to Fuscia City.
30. 30 Fuscia City is the home of the gym leader, Koga! Koga is the leader of the Poisonous Pokimon Hall.
31. 31 After defeating Koga, you should get HM Surf and HM Strength before continuing your adventure. Head north to Fuscia City towards the Safari Zone. In the Safari Zone, you will find two main things: HM Surf and Goldteeth (Don't worry, Goldteeth is very important for getting HM Strength!)
32. 32 Complete your mission in the Safari Zone earning HM Surf and Goldteeth. You already have HM Surf, it remains to get HM Strength! To the right of the Pokemon Center in Fuscia City, you will see several houses. In one of the houses, you will find a game warden, he will give HM Strength!
33. 33 It's time to defeat Rocket! Move to Saffron City to defeat Team Rocket! Saffron is located north of Vermillion City. In Saffron, you will see a tall building, go inside and deal with the building challenge.
34. 34 After defeating Team Rocket, they will run away and you can fight the leader of the gym in Saffron City! Saffron City is home to Sabrina, the leader of the Psychic Pokémon Hall.
35. 35 The hardest part is over, now you need to get the 7th badge. Return to Pallet Town, head south and continue swimming. You sail to Cinnabar Island.
36. 36 Before you fight the leader of the hall in Cinnabar, you need a key to open the door to the hall. Go to Cinnabar Mansion and look for the key to the Cinnabar Lounge.
37. 37 When you get the key, go outside and open the door from the hall. Cinnabar Island is the home of Blaine, the leader of the Fire Pokémon Hall!
38. 38 And finally, the last badge. Remember the hall in Viridian City that was closed? This is your final assignment and step towards getting all the badges. And you know what? Giovanni, Team Rocket Leader, is the Viridian City Gym Leader! Giovanni uses the same Pokémon as before.

Tips

• Save the game before starting the battle. This way, if you lose, you can turn off the game and start the battle over.
• Create a good, diverse Pokemon team. Remember, Pokemon have strengths and weaknesses, and this will work to your advantage. An example of a Pokemon team would be: Flareon (fire type), Lapras (water type), Pikachu (electric type), Bulbasaur (grass / poison type), Geodude (stone type), Dodrio (flying / normal type).
• Before the battle in the hall, swing and level up your Pokemon. Thus, it will be much easier for you during the battles.
• Take some things with you before the battle in the hall. You do not want your Pokemon to remain in a harmful state, such as burning, which takes away health. Grab some Potions / Super Potions, which can help when your Pokemon's health is low.

Warnings

• This wikiHow explains how to get the badges and the steps to take. It does not talk about the detailed actions of passing caves and completing building challenges.
• This guide talks about how to get Kanto badges for first generation games (Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow) or for rework (Leafgreen, Firered). These steps are not suitable for next generation games (Silver, Gold, and Crystal)
• For people who trade Pokémon between games, the Pokémon obtained through the trade will not be listened to when reaching a certain level unless you have the desired badge. Example: Cerulean City Hall Badge allows you to command a traded Level 30 Pokémon, if this Pokémon reaches level 30+ and you do not have a Cerulean City Hall Badge, then your Pokémon will not obey.
• It will be very difficult for you to get through the game using only one Pokémon. You will be taken to a hall in which there is a Pokemon opposite to yours. Diversify your team.
