Are you a fan of David Copperfield, or just think a couple of tricks can add variety to a boring party? Perhaps you already know a card trick, but want to expand your repertoire. If so, you're in luck that you found this article! All you need is a deck of cards and a little sleight of hand to surprise everyone.

Steps

  1. 1 Prepare two sets of cards.

    • One set should contain six cards. Although you can use any six cards, the illusion will probably be most convincing if you use three consecutive cards (i.e. 5, 6, 7, as in the picture) and choose both red and black card suits.
    • The second set should consist of five cards, chosen according to the principle of the opposite color of the suit of the previous set. Since you only have five cards left, you need to remove one card (for example, 7 diamonds). It doesn't matter which card you remove.
  2. 2 Select a friend or audience member.
  3. 3 Show the person a set of six cards. Show that everything is easy and casual. After all, these are just playing cards. Show him the shirt so that he understands that everything is without a catch.
  4. 4 Ask the person to choose a card. Ask him not to name this card, not to show or touch it.
  5. 5 Gather the cards together and place them face down in your hand.
  6. 6 Tell the person that you will try to read their mind and guess the card they chose. He should concentrate on it at the expense of everything else and not pay attention to details. Ask him to visualize the map in his mind.
  7. 7 Replace the first pile of cards with the second. This trick is a little more difficult to perform live than online because you will have to use manual dexterity. While you are talking to your volunteer (and thus distracting him), swap the sets of cards so that the second is in your hand. You can keep the second stack in your sleeve or put your hand in your pocket. Pretend that you are thinking very hard and talk to him so that the person does not notice the substitution. If you are having trouble with sleight of hand, there is an alternative method below.
  8. 8 Show the person the second set of cards. Show him one card after another artistically. The card chosen by the volunteer will not be there! In fact, all the cards will be different, but they will resemble the cards from the first set, so he probably won't notice the difference.

Magic camera (alternative method)

  1. Prepare two sets of cards as described above.
  2. Use your camera to take a picture of the second set. You can use the camera on your phone or any other device. Once you take the shot, you no longer need a second stack.
  3. Show the volunteer six cards and ask him to choose oneas described above.
  4. Say you have a magic camerawhich determines which card the person has chosen
  5. Using the camera, take a picture of the set of cards on the table. You can also take a photo and then delete it (looks a little suspicious). Pretend you are shooting cards, but don't. Take a picture, show it to a volunteer, and then close it without saving.Or you can save the shot, but quickly switch to the second one when the camera is in playback mode. Depending on the camera, one of these methods will be easier and more convenient.
  6. Stack your cards face down and hold them in your hand.
  7. Attach cards in the camera. Tell the camera to receive special waves (or something like that) and receive information about the selected card. Hold the cards for a few seconds and then remove them.
  8. Find a photo of the second set of cards. Practice ahead of time so you can do it easily.
  9. Show the picture to the person... His card is gone!

Tips

  • You can ask your volunteer to tell the selected card to another member of the public or a friend, so the public will not be "fooled".
  • This trick can be shown not only with cards, but also with objects, provided that the objects are similar to each other. For example, cubes of different colors.
  • You need a good story to distract the audience and your volunteer.
  • You can make the magic camera trick even more convincing by changing the date / time setting so that it looks like the second set of cards was captured when the volunteer selected the card.

Take some precautions so that your audience won't be able to guess what you've done. Complete all actions quickly.

Warnings

  • This trick is very easy to reveal, since it has been around the Internet for a long time. Chances are your audience has already seen it. You can entertain people, but don't add that trick to your regular repertoire.

What do you need

  • Playing cards
  • Camera or camera on the phone (optional)
