Want to connect your Nintendo Wii to the internet to download games, play online or watch a movie on your TV? It's simple enough. We'll show you how to do it! Just read on.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Wireless connection

1. 1 Make sure your network is configured properly. You need a good signal to connect to the internet with your set-top box. Read the instructions for your modem or router.
   • If you can connect to the Internet using other devices, then there should be no problem with the Wii either.
   • If you don't have a wireless router, you can connect the Nintendo USB Wi-Fi adapter to your computer to set up a wireless internet source. You will need to install the software to the adapter and then plug in the Nintendo USB Wi-Fi Adapter itself.
2. 2 Turn on the Wii device and press the A button on the Wii Remote to open the Wii Menu. Use the remote, select the "Wii" button. It's a round button at the bottom left.
3. 3 Select Wii Settings and open Wii System Settings. Click on the arrow on the right side of the screen to go to the next settings page.
4. 4 Select "Internet" from System Preferences. Select Connection Settings "Connection Settings." Three connection types will open. If you have not configured the connection before, the window will display the inscription No or “None”.
5. 5 Select the first connection "Connection 1: None. "Select Wireless Connection from the menu. Then click Search for an Access Point." The Wii will then find all available hotspots, select a hotspot and press OK.
6. 6 Choose your network. You will see the name of your network. Select it and enter the password, if any. Click OK.
   • If your hotspot does not appear in the list, check if the Wii is close enough to the router and if the network is configured correctly.
   • You can change the encryption type by pressing the orange button (select the type WEP, WPA, etc.)
   • If you are using a Nintendo USB Wi-Fi Adapter, open your computer and accept the network connection request.
   • If you get error 51330 or 52130 on your Wii, it means the password was entered incorrectly.
7. 7 Save the settings. After you have entered all the information, the Wii will prompt you to save it. Then the connection test will start.
8. 8 Complete the setup. After you have successfully connected to the network, a window will open asking you to install a system update. You can do this if you like.

Method 2 of 3: Connect Using an Ethernet Cable

1. 1 Buy a Wii LAN Adapter. To connect to the network using a cable, you need to buy and connect a special adapter. The adapter is not included in the box with the Wii, and other non-Nintendo adapters simply won't work.
2. 2 Plug the Wii LAN Adapter into the USB port on the back of the Wii device after turning off the device.
3. 3 Turn on the Wii and open the Wii Menu."It's the round button at the bottom left.
4. 4 Open Wii Settings."The" Wii System Settings "menu will appear. Click on the arrow to go to the next settings page.

Method 3 of 3: Using the Internet

1. 1 Download more channels. Once you are connected to the internet, you can use the Wii Shop Channel to download more Wii channels. You can download the browser, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, and more.
   • Open the "Wii Shop Channel" and click "Start." Select "Wii Channels" from the menu and find the one you want, then download it.
2. 2 Use the internet. You can use the Internet Channel in the Channel window to open the Wii browser.
3. 3 Watch the video. You can watch videos and download them from the store.
4. 4 See news, weather and more. You can download these channels for free. As of June 28, 2013, some of these channels are no longer operational.
5. 5 Play games with friends all over the world. Several Wii games allow you to play online with your friends over the internet.
   • A special Friend Code is generated for each Wii game. To add a friend to your game, you need to read the instructions. This is done differently in different games.

Tips

• If your connection doesn't work and you can't do anything with it, try disconnecting the Wii, wait 5-10 minutes, and then reconnecting. Or try restarting your internet modem and / or router
• If your Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector is not working, consider purchasing a wireless router. They work better than connectors.
• Try moving the Wii closer to your internet source.
