In Airplane mode (airplane mode), the transmission of the mobile signal to the Android mobile device is blocked so that you can use your phone during the flight. Airplane mode can also be useful when you want to be quiet and not receive any calls, as well as if you want to save battery power. After activating airplane mode, you can turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals back on.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Using the shutdown menu

Works on most Android phones.

1. 1 Press and hold the shutdown button. After a few seconds, the shutdown menu should appear.
2. 2 Select "Airplane" or "Airplane" On some devices, instead of "Airplane" you will see just a picture of an airplane.
   • If the shutdown menu does not have an option to go to airplane mode, see the next section.

Method 2 of 3: Using the Settings Menu

1. 1 Open "Settings" on your mobile device. You can find the "Settings" icon on the home screen or in the app drawer. On some devices, the settings shortcut is in the notification panel.
2. 2 Click on "More" or "More networks". It's under the first few options in the Settings menu.
   • It may not be necessary. On some phones, the Airplane (or Airplane) mode is displayed in the main settings menu.
3. 3 Check the "Airplane" or "Flight" checkbox. This will switch your mobile device to airplane mode.
4. 4 Make sure airplane mode is on. Instead of a mobile signal indicator, you will see an airplane icon. This means that Airplane mode is on.

Method 3 of 3: Turn on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth

1. 1 Find out when you can turn Wi-Fi or Bluetooth back on. In 2013, the Civil Aviation Authority announced that it was allowed to use smartphones disconnected from the mobile network during flights. You can turn on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth at any time if your phone is in airplane mode. Most flights are not allowed to use Wi-Fi below 3000 meters.
2. 2 Open the "Settings" menu on your device. You can find the Settings icon on the home screen or in the app drawer, and on some devices there is a settings shortcut in the notification bar.
3. 3 Turn on Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi turns off automatically when you put your device into Airplane mode, but you can always turn it back on. In this case, the phone will remain disconnected from the mobile network.
4. 4 Turn on Bluetooth. Like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth turns off when you switch to Airplane mode. You can turn it back on through the Settings menu.
