Like most other cell phones, the iPhone has its own unique text messaging app. If you would like to learn how to send a text message / iMessage, then this article can serve you as a guide.
Steps
1 Click on the Messages icon on your iPhone home page to launch the corresponding application.
2 Click on the New Message button in the upper right corner of the screen.
3 Enter the recipient's name. Type the contact's name, iCloud email address, or phone number in the To: field, or click the plus (+) sign and select a contact from the list. 
4 Decide whether you use the iMessage service on your device or only 3G. If the contact has an iCloud account and is using iMessage, the Send button turns blue and iMessage appears in the text box. 
5 Indicate if your message will be sent via the telephone network. When the contact is working with iCloud, the Send button will turn blue and the top line will appear as New iMessage. If the recipient does not use the iCloud service, the Send button will turn green and the phrase “New Message” will be shown in the text box. 
6 Click on the text field and enter your message using the software keyboard. Click on the Send button. 
7 Check the time of successful dispatch and delivery of your message. The message was sent when the delivery notification below shows the status "Delivered". If it says Read, then the recipient has opened the Messages app on their device and read the message sent to them.
Tips
- iMessages can be streamed over Wi-Fi or 3G connections.
- You have the option to turn iMessage on and off in the Settings app under the Messages tab.
Warnings
- If you send your message in the form of a standard SMS, you will have to pay for it, or the cost will be deducted from the reserve set by your operator.
