This article will show you how to copy text from Facebook and then paste it into a text box on Facebook or another application. You can also copy text from another application and paste it into Facebook. This can be done on a mobile device and on a computer.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On a mobile device

  1. 1 Start Facebook. Click the white "f" icon on a dark blue background located on one of the desktops. Your news feed will open if you are signed in to your Facebook account.
    • If you are not logged in yet, enter your email address (or phone number) and password.
  2. 2 Find the text you want to copy. Scroll through your Facebook page to find the text you want to copy, then tap that text. You cannot copy a photo or video, but you can copy any text.
    • If you want to copy text on a site, go to that site in the web browser of your mobile device, and then proceed to the next step.
  3. 3 Press and hold the text. The text will be highlighted and a menu will open.
  4. 4 Click on Copy. It's an option on the menu. The selected text will be copied.
    • On Android, tap Copy Text.
  5. 5 Find the place where you want to paste the copied text. If you want to paste the copied text into the Facebook app, find the comment or status box you want.
    • If the text was copied from a website or another application, start Facebook.
  6. 6 Press and hold the text box. A menu will open.
  7. 7 Click on Insert. It's in the pop-up menu. The copied text appears in the selected text box.
    • If the text needs to be pasted in another application or website, the menu options may be different - in this case, look for an option similar to "Paste".

Method 2 of 2: On the computer

  1. 1 Open the Facebook site. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ in your browser. Your news feed will open if you are signed in to your Facebook account.
    • If you are not logged in yet, enter your email address (or phone number) and password.
  2. 2 Find the text you want to copy.
    • If you want to copy text on any site, go to that site.

  4. 4 Copy the text. Click on Ctrl+C (or ⌘ Command+C on a Mac computer). The selected text will be copied.
    • Alternatively, you can right-click the text and choose Copy from the menu.
  5. 5 Find the place where you want to paste the copied text. On Facebook, find the text field you want (for example, a comment box or a status box).
    • If you need to paste the text in another program or on another site (for example, in an email), go to the site or to the program window.
  6. 6 Click on the text box. It will display the mouse cursor.
  7. 7 Insert your text. Make sure the cursor is in the text box and then click Ctrl+V (or ⌘ Command+V on Mac) to insert text. The copied text appears in the text box.
