This article will show you how to prevent Recommended Pages from appearing in your Facebook News Feed and to remove some of the recommended posts on your desktop and mobile Facebook. Since ad blocking software is required to block recommended pages, recommended pages cannot be blocked on Facebook mobile.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Block All Posts with AdBlock Plus

1. 1 Install AdBlock Plus in the browser. If you don't already have AdBlock Plus, install it.
   • To block ads, install exactly "Adblock Plus".
2. 2 Click on the extension icon. This is an icon with a stop sign and the letters "ABP" in the upper right part of the browser. A drop-down menu will appear on the screen.
   • In Chrome, first click on ⋮ in the upper right corner of the browser.
   • In Microsoft Edge, click on ⋯ in the upper right corner, select "Extensions" from the menu and click on "AdBlock Plus".
3. 3 Open the menu Settingsby clicking on the appropriate option at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
4. 4 Go to the tab Personal filters. It's a gray button at the top of the page.
   • In Firefox, click on the "Advanced" tab in the panel on the left.
5. 5 Copy the script to block recommended pages (ads). Highlight the following code and press Ctrl+C (Windows) or ⌘ Command+C (Mac): facebook.com # #DIV [id ^ = "substream_"] ._5jmm [data-dedupekey] [data-cursor] [data-xt] [data-xt-vimpr = "1"] [data-ftr = "1" ] [data-fte = "1"]
6. 6 Enter the script. Click the Add Filter text box at the top of the page, then click Ctrl+V (Windows) or ⌘ Command+V (Mac) to paste the copied code into the box.
   • In Firefox, scroll down to the bottom and click on "Change Filters", then paste the script into the "My Filter List" box.
7. 7 Press + Add filter to the right of the text box.
   • In Firefox, click the Save button.
8. 8 Restart your browser. Close and then restart your browser for the changes to take effect. The "Adblock Plus" extension will now block recommended pages (and other ads) on Facebook.
   • It will take a few minutes for the extension to identify and block all Facebook ads, so take your time to refresh your Facebook page.

Method 2 of 3: Delete individual publications on your computer

1. 1 Start Facebook. Enter https://www.facebook.com/ into the address bar of your browser. If you are automatically logged in, you will find yourself in your News Feed.
   • Otherwise, enter your email address and password in the upper right corner of the page.
2. 2 Find the recommended publication. Scroll through the News Feed until you find a “featured post” (advertisement).
3. 3 Press ⋯ in the upper right corner of the post. A drop-down menu will appear on the screen.
4. 4 Click on the option Hide post in the dropdown menu.
5. 5 State the reason. Note one of the following reasons:
   • It is unpleasant and not interesting.
   • This is spam.
   • I don't think it belongs on Facebook..
6. 6 Click on Proceed. It's a blue button at the bottom of the window.
   • If you selected “I don't think this is the place on Facebook,” please provide an additional reason.
7. 7 When done press Ready. You will no longer see the selected ad.

Method 3 of 3: Delete individual posts on a mobile device

1. 1 Start Facebook. Tap the Facebook icon with a white “f” on a dark blue background. If you are automatically logged in, you will find yourself in your News Feed.
   • Otherwise, enter your email address and password.
2. 2 Find the recommended publication. Scroll through the News Feed until you find a “featured post” (advertisement).
3. 3 Tap ⋯ in the upper right corner of the advertisement. After that, a drop-down menu will appear on the screen.
4. 4 Tap option Hide ads in the dropdown menu. The publication will disappear immediately.
5. 5 Tap option Hide all ads from [name] On the page. Ads will no longer appear in your News Feed (unless you like them).
   • For example, click on "Hide all Nike ads" to block all Nike ads, but if you subscribe to a company's Facebook page, posts from that company will continue to arrive.
   • This option may not be available on Android.

Tips

• If a particular user often sends you publications, unsubscribe from him, leaving him in your friends list. This will prevent his posts from appearing in the news feed.

Warnings

• Facebook is constantly looking for ways to bypass ad blocking apps, so ad blocking software could stop working on Facebook one day.
