If the disc containing The Sims 3 is scratched, broken, or lost entirely, your ability to play will not be affected. If you have a product code for the original game, there's nothing stopping you from re-downloading The Sims 3 from the internet. Otherwise, buy and download a fresh copy of the game. If you are playing The Sims 3 on a Windows PC, installing the "No CD" mod, which bypasses the disc authentication process, will allow the game to run without the disc.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Re-downloading The Sims 3 via Origin

1. 1 Go to the official Origin website by going to: https://www.origin.com/rus/ru-ru/store/about. Origin is EA's digital commerce platform through which you can purchase and download games, including those previously purchased.
2. 2 Click on "Download Origin" and then select the version of Origin for your Windows or Mac computer.
3. 3 Save the installation file on your computer and then double click on it to run.
4. 4 Follow the onscreen instructions to install Origin on your computer.
5. 5 When the installation is complete, allow Origin to start.
6. 6 Click on the menu button and select "Redeem Product Code". The product code, also known as the serial key, is printed on the back of the game manual. If for some reason you no longer have access to the game manual, the same code can be found in the computer registry or in the Terminal on Mac OS X.
   • Windows: Log in as Administrator, open Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> SOFTWARE> Electronic Arts> Sims> EP or SP> ergc. The code will be written in the "Value" column.
   • Mac OS X: Launch Finder, go to Utilities> Terminal, and then enter the following code: cat Library / Preferences / The Sims 3 Preferences / system.reg | grep -A1 ergc. When you press "Enter", the product code will be displayed on the second line below the game description.
7. 7 Enter your Sims 3 product code and click Next.
8. 8 Click on "My Games" in the Origin client. The Sims 3 should appear in the list of available games.
9. 9 Download The Sims 3 to your computer. If DLC packs were included with the original game, they will also be available for download.
10. 10 When the game downloads, launch The Sims 3. The game can now be played without a CD directly from Origin.

Method 2 of 3: Modding The Sims 3 (Windows Only)

1. 1 Open the mod's NoCD page on the NRaas Industries website by going to: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/NoCD+Phase+One. This exclusive Sims 3 mod allows you to bypass the game disc authentication procedure and run The Sims 3 without it.
2. 2 Scroll down the page and download the NRaas_NoCD.zip file.
3. 3 Double click on the .zip file to open its contents. This archive contains only one file - "No CD Phase One".
4. 4 Launch File Explorer and open the Documents folder.
5. 5 Open the Electronic Arts folder and then the The Sims 3 folder.
6. 6 Delete the file named "scriptcache.package" from the Sims 3 folder. This will force the game to use a new, modified script file that will not prevent the game from starting.
7. 7 Open the Mods folder and then the Packages folder.
8. 8 Return to your desktop and copy the "No CD Phase One" file.
9. 9 Go back to Explorer and paste the "No CD Phase One" file into the "Packages" folder.
10. 10 Close File Explorer and restart the game. The game will bypass the disk authentication process and launch normally.

Method 3 of 3: Buying and Downloading The Sims 3

1. 1 Visit the official The Sims 3 page on the EA website by going to: http://www.ea.com/the-sims-3.
2. 2 Click Buy Now. The EA site will redirect you to The Sims 3 page on the Origin site.
3. 3 Click Add to Cart and then follow the onscreen instructions to buy The Sims 3. The game is currently priced at RUB 1,499 and includes two add-on packs, but prices and features may have changed. You may be asked to create an EA / Origin account. Further purchases of games from EA / Origin will be made through the Origin client.
4. 4 Go to the Origin download page: https://www.origin.com/rus/ru-ru/store/download.
5. 5 Download Origin for your Windows or Mac computer. Origin is a free game client that lets you manage and play games from EA, including The Sims 3.
6. 6 Save the Origin setup file to your desktop and then double click on it.
7. 7 Install Origin by following the instructions on the screen.
8. 8 Allow Origin to run when the installation is complete.
9. 9 Follow the onscreen instructions to link Origin to your EA Account. This is a required step to access games purchased from EA / Origin.
10. 10 Click on "My Games" in the Origin window. Sims 3 will appear in the list of games.
11. 11 Start Sims 3. The Sims 3 can now be played without a disc directly from Origin.

Tips

• If you downloaded The Sims 3 from Origin and the game won't launch, try deleting the original copy of The Sims 3 from your computer. The error could be caused by a conflict when the computer tries to recognize a copy of a game from a physical disk instead of a digital copy of Sims 3.
