This wikiHow teaches you how to delete individual sent messages from your side in Skype conversations on mobile and desktop versions. This is different from deleting a Skype conversation. You cannot delete messages received from others, but if you delete messages sent from you, the other party will not see them.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: On the phone

  1. Open Skype. The application is blue with a white "S". The main Skype page will open if you're signed in.
    • If you are not logged in, enter your phone number (or email address) and password to log in.

  2. Click on the card Chats (Conversation) at the top of the screen.
  3. Select conversation. Tap the conversation containing the message you want to delete.

  4. Go to the message you want to delete. You may need to scroll up to find if the message is old.
  5. Press and hold on the message. After a few seconds, a menu will pop up.

  6. Click Remove (Erase). This option is near the bottom of the pop-up menu.
    • On Android, you need to tap Remove message (Delete message) here.
  7. Click Remove when prompted. The selected message is deleted from the conversation; thus, neither you nor the member in the conversation can see the message.

Advice

  • If you receive unwanted messages from certain Skype contacts, you can delete or block them from your contacts list.

Warning

  • Message deletion cannot be canceled, and deleted messages cannot be restored.
  • If you delete the message on a mobile device, it will still be visible on Skype desktop version (and vice versa). Sometimes, if you delete the message on a mobile device, it will not be possible to delete the message on the computer.
