This wikiHow teaches you how to prevent Google Chrome from automatically updating on Windows, Mac, iPhone, and Android platforms. Note that stopping Google Chrome updates puts your device and devices on the same system at risk of being compromised or hacked on the network.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: On Windows

1.

Method 3 of 4: On iPhone

   Click Auto-update apps (Auto App Update) near the top of the screen. Another menu will open.

   Click Do not auto-update apps (Does not automatically update apps). This option is at the top of the pop-up menu. Automatic application updates will be disabled, meaning that no applications — not even Google Chrome — can update themselves from now on. advertisement

• Disabling Chrome Update is useful when you're trying to use Chrome on a recently outdated or unsupported operating system.
