This wikiHow teaches you how to shoot a 10-second video using Snapchat.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Video recording

1. 

   Open Snapchat. The app's camera screen will appear.

   Select the object to which the video will be captured. The video is only up to 10 seconds long, so you should choose a recordable object in a short clip.

   Select camera mode. Click the two-arrow button in the upper right corner of the screen to switch between the front and rear lenses.
   • The front camera is perfect for selfie clips as you can find yourself on the screen while recording a video.
   • Press and hold anywhere on the screen to activate Snapchat Lenses. Lenses use facial recognition technology to add effects to subjects (such as dog ears). You can scroll left on the dial and follow the instructions that appear on the screen to see what the lens will do.

   Hold down the record button. This is a large round button located at the center of the screen.
   • When you hold down the record button, the white outer circle will turn red to show the video length, and a red circle will appear in the center of the record button to show that the camera is recording.

   Release the spin button. Video recording will stop.
   • The video will stop automatically after 10 seconds after the circle outside the record button turns completely red.

Part 2 of 3: Adding effects to videos

1. 

   Add a filter. Swipe left on the video to see the available effects, which include fast forward, slow motion, various nuances and filters, and the current location name.
   • Filters can be turned on in the section Manage Preferences (Manage options) of the menu Settings (Setting). Swipe down from the camera screen and tap the ⚙ icon to open Settings.

   Create stickers. Tap the scissors icon at the top of the screen, then sketch any part of the video with your finger, such as a person's face. So you've created a sticker that can be moved anywhere on the screen or saved for use in another video.

3. 

   Add a sticker. Click the square icon with the folded corner at the top of the screen. Then scroll left on the available Bitmojis stickers and emojis to find the appropriate sticker.
   • Tap the selection and use your finger to locate the object on the screen.

4. 

   Add notes. Click on the text icon T at the top of the screen. Enter a comment, then tap Done (Accomplished).
   • Use your finger to move to locate comments on the screen.

5. 

   Draw on video. Click the crayon icon at the top of the screen, select a color in the spectrum that appears, then write or draw on the screen with your finger.
   • Click the back arrow icon next to the crayon to remove any errors.

Part 3 of 3: Save or send video

1. 

   Save the video. Click the down arrow icon in the lower left corner of the screen to save the Snapchat video to the Memories library.
   • Click on the icon Mute (Mute) in the lower left corner to save or send video without audio.
   • Access Memories by swiping up on the camera screen. You can download the saved video to your device or share it to another application by tapping the video and then selecting the icon Share (Share) in the lower left corner.

2. 

   Add video to Story. Click on the square icon with the "+" in the lower left corner and select Add (Add) to include video in Story.
   • Story is a snap collection that you've captured and added in the last 24 hours. Friends can review your Story multiple times.
   • Snapshots that have passed over 24 hours will automatically disappear from the Story.

3. 

   Send videos to friends. Press the button Send To (Send to) in the lower right, check the box next to one or more people you want to share the video with and press the button Send (Send) is located in the lower right corner.
   • You can also add a video to a Story by checking the box next to it My Story before pressing Send.
   • If you want your friends to watch and respond to videos in groups instead of individually, you can create groups by clicking the icon. Group in the upper right corner after selecting two or more friends.
