This article will guide you on how to create a YouTube account. You can do this by accessing Youtube from your computer or phone. YouTube and Google accounts share the same login information, so when you have a Gmail or other Google account, you also have a YouTube account. You can create a new YouTube account with any email address on a YouTube site accessed from a computer, or by creating a new Gmail account on the YouTube mobile app.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On the computer

1. 

   Open YouTube. Go to https://www.youtube.com/ from your computer browser to the YouTube homepage.

   Click SIGN IN (Log in). If you're not logged into your Google account in your browser, click this option in the upper-right corner of the YouTube homepage.
   • If you're signed in to your Google account in your browser, you're also signed in to your YouTube account. So you don't need to do anything more and you can start using YouTube right away!

   Click Create account (Create an account) near the bottom left corner of the login page to open a new account creation form.

   Fill out the form to create a Google account. Enter the information in the following fields:
   • First name (Name) and Last name (Last name) - Enter your first and last name in the appropriate field.
   • Your email address (Your email address) - Enter the working email address you are using. You do not need to use a Gmail account.
   • Password (Password) - Enter the password you want to use to log in.
   • Confirm password (Confirm Password) - Re-enter the password you just entered earlier.

   Click NEXT (Continue) at the bottom of the page.

   Get the email address verification code in the following way:
   • Open your email inbox and sign in if needed.
   • Click the "Verify your email address" email sent from Google.
   • Remember the six-digit code in the body of the email.

   Enter your confirmation code. Type the six-digit verification code in the email in the box in the middle of the Google account creation page.

   Click VERIFY (Confirm) below the code input box.

   Enter your date of birth and gender. Choose your date of birth, then click the "Gender" drop-down box to choose a gender.
   • You can also enter your phone number, but it's optional.

    Click NEXT (Continue) at the bottom of the page.

    Scroll down and click I AGREE (I agree) at the bottom of the list of terms. This will create a Google account, help you sign in and reopen the YouTube site. advertisement

Method 2 of 2: On the phone

1. 

   Open YouTube. Tap the YouTube app with a white triangle icon on a red background.

2. 

   Tap the "Profile" icon in the upper-right corner of the screen to open a menu of choices.

3. 

   Touch SIGN IN (Login) in selection list to open a new menu.
   • If signed in to a YouTube account, you choose Switch account (Transfer accounts) at this step.

   Touch Add account (Add account) near the bottom of the menu.
   • On Android, tap the icon ＋ in the top-right corner of the menu.

5. 

   Touch the path Create account (Create account) near the bottom of the screen.

   Enter your first and last name. Type your first name in the "First name" field, then type your last name in the "Last name" field.

   Touch the button NEXT (Continue) in blue at the bottom of the page.

8. 

   Enter your date of birth and gender. Choose your date of birth, then tap the "Gender" drop-down box to choose a gender.

9. 

   Touch NEXT (Continue).

    Create a Gmail username. You can't use an address other than Gmail to create a Google account on the YouTube app, so you'll need to create a new Gmail account by typing whatever you want to use as your Gmail username in the "Username" field.
    • For example, when you type "iamabanana" here, you will have a Gmail address "[email protected]".
    • When you create a YouTube account on your phone, you must create a Gmail account instead of using a different email address. If you want to use a non-Gmail address, you should visit the YouTube website to create a YouTube account.

11. 

    Touch NEXT (Continue).

12. 

    Enter the password twice. Type the password you like in the "Create password" field, and then type the password again in the "Confirm password" field.

    Touch NEXT.

14. 

    Scroll down and select SKIP (Skip) at the bottom of the page.

15. 

    Scroll down and select I AGREE (I agree) at the bottom of the list of YouTube terms.
