This wikiHow teaches you how to invite people who are not friends to a group on Facebook. You need to know the person's email address, otherwise they'll need to request access from the group.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: On iPhone

1. 

   Open the Facebook app. If asked, enter your username and password, then tap Log in (Log in).

   Click on the icon ☰ is in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen.

   Click Groups (Group).

   Tap the group you want to invite someone to.
   • If you are creating a new group, tap Create Group (Create a group).

   Click Add Members (Add members).

   Enter the email address of the person you want to invite. You can add multiple email addresses at the same time.

7. 

   Click Done (Accomplished). The group invitation will be sent to that person's email address. They can click on the link and log into their Facebook account to join the group.
   • If you create a new group, the Done button will be replaced with next (Next).

Method 2 of 3: On Android

1. 

   Open the Facebook app. If asked, enter your username and password, then tap Log in.

2. 

   Click on the icon ☰ is in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

3. 

   Click Groups.

4. 

   Tap the group you want to invite someone to.
   • If you are creating a new group, tap Create Group.

5. 

   Click Add Members (Add members).

6. 

   Enter the email address of the person you want to invite. You can add multiple email addresses at the same time.

   Click Done. The group invitation will be sent to that person's email address. They can click on the link and log into their Facebook account to join the group.
   • If you create a new group, the Done button will be replaced with next.

Method 3 of 3: On the computer

1. 

   Access Facebook using a web browser. If prompted, enter your username or password and click Log in.

2. 

   Click Groups located in the left bar.

3. 

   Click the group you want to invite someone to.
   • If you are creating a new group, click Create Group in the upper right.

4. 

   Click Add Friends to Group (Add friends to the group). This option is in the upper right, below the title Members (Member).

5. 

   Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
   • You can enter multiple email addresses in this field and separate them with commas.
   • If you create a new group, this field will be labeled as Members.

6. 

   Click Invite (Invite). The group invitation will be sent to that person's email address. They can click on the link and log into their Facebook account to join the group.
   • If you create a new group, this button will be Create (Create).
   • Or you can copy / paste the URL of the group and send it to that person via Facebook message or text message (if you have their phone number). For private groups, you will need to approve the request. This method won't work with secret groups.
