Saving the web page comes in handy if you plan to re-visit the site offline, or if you want to capture and keep the content on the site without worrying about it being changed or deleted later. this. All web browsers have the ability to save web pages for offline viewing, and you can even use special programs to download all the pages of the website you are viewing at once.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: On a computer browser

1. 

   Open the web page you want to save. Any web browser can quickly save the web page you are viewing. You will then be able to open the page at any time, even offline. See also online if you want to save the entire website and all linked pages.

   Open the "Save page as" window. All browsers have the ability to save a web page and all the multimedia content on it. You can quickly open this window by clicking Ctrl/⌘ Cmd+S, or proceed as follows:
   • Chrome - Click the Chrome menu button (☰) and select "Save page as".
   • Internet Explorer - Click the gear button, select "File" then click "Save as". If you can't find the gear button, click "File" and choose "Save as".
   • Firefox - Click the Firefox menu button (☰) and select "Save Page".
   • Safari - Click the "File" menu and choose "Save As".

   Name the page you want to save. By default, the file will have the same name as the page title.

   Select a location to save the page. Once saved, the page's HTML file will be located here with the folder containing all the multimedia content on the page (if you choose to save the complete page).

   Choose whether you want to save the complete page or just as the HTML language. On the "Save as type" menu, you can choose between "Webpage, Complete" or "Webpage, HTML Only". Choosing to save the complete page will download all the media content on the page to a separate folder. As such, you will be able to view the images while offline.
   • Internet Explorer users can choose "Web Archive, single file ( *. Mht)". This is a format Microsoft stores all data of web pages into a single archive. While these .htt files can only be opened easily in Internet Explorer, this format makes hosting of multiple web pages much simpler.

   Open the saved web page. The HTML file will be in the location you specified. When you double-click this file, the saved page will open in the default web browser whether or not the computer is on the network.
   • Make sure that the linked media folder is always in the same location as the .html file. If this folder is located in a different location, the web page will not be able to load the images.
   • If you are offline and the saved page has a streaming video, it won't play until you are connected to the Internet.

Method 2 of 4: On iOS

1. 

   Use Safari on your iOS device to open the website you want to save. You can save any website for offline viewing. This is extremely useful if you are on the go or plan to move without an Internet connection.
   • You can only use this feature on iOS 7 and later.

   Click the Share button. This option is at the bottom (iPhone and iPod), or the top of the screen (iPad). The Share button looks like a frame with an arrow pointing upwards.

   Click the "Add to Reading List" button from the Share menu. The "Add to Reading List" button has an icon of glasses and is next to the "Add Bookmark" option.
   • Do not close a tab until the page has been added to the Reading List. Large pages may take longer to save properly. After the website has finished loading, you can safely close this tab.

   Finds saved pages in Reading List. You can access the reading list even when you are not connected to the Internet. Click the Bookmarks button in Safari, then click the tab with the glasses to see all the pages in the Reading List.
   • The Bookmarks button is usually located next to the address bar and has a book icon open.

   Click the page you want to open. If you are offline, you may find the page is slightly different from the original. This is because when a page is saved for offline reading, unnecessary data is removed, such as the background color of the web page.

   Scroll to the bottom to go to the next item. When viewing to the bottom of the page, you can keep scrolling to move on to the next item in Reading List.

7. 

   Switch between read and unread items. Click the "Show All" or "Show Unread" button at the bottom of the Reading List to switch between the pages in the list, or just the pages that you have not read.

   Swipe an item in Reading List to the left to delete. When you finish reading a page, you can delete it from the list by swiping left on the item and clicking "Delete".

   Update device if Reading List is not working properly. Some users have encountered an error when the iOS 8 update fails to load pages in Reading List while the device is offline. You can update to iOS 8.0.1 or tweak to fix this issue.
   • Open the Settings app and select "General".
   • Tap the "Software Update" option and select "Install Update" once the device has found an available update.

Method 3 of 4: On Android

1. 

   Use Chrome on your Android device to open the website you want to save. While it's not possible to bookmark web pages for offline viewing like you can with Safari on iOS, we can save pages as PDF files to open at any time, even forward links from there.
   • Browsers on Android will usually have an offline viewing option. Open your browser menu by pressing the (⋮) button and selecting "Save for offline viewing". Not all Android browsers have this option.

   Press the Chrome menu button (⋮) and select "Print". This will "print" the web page into a PDF format.

3. 

   Click the drop-down menu and select "Save as PDF". The page and link therein will be saved in a PDF file located on the device.

   Click the "Save" button. The Downloads menu will open. Select the "Downloads" option located in the left pane.

5. 

   Name this page. By default, the file will be saved with the title of the web page. You can change it by clicking on the name and entering a new name.

   Click the "Save" button. The PDF file will be saved to the device.

7. 

   Open the Downloads app on your device. A list of all the files you have downloaded will appear.

8. 

   Click on the PDF file you just saved. You will be prompted to choose an app to open the file.

9. 

   Read website. When you click on any link in the PDF file, the content will open in your browser (if the device is connected to the network). advertisement

Method 4 of 4: Archiving the entire website

1. 

   Download and install HTTrack. HTTrack is an open source website cloning program that allows users to save every page and multimedia part of the entire website while keeping the links, and at the same time building a directory system for all content. Opening the page offline will allow you to forward all the links on the page, as long as they initially lead to other content on the same server.
   • You can download HTTrack for free at. This software is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

2. 

   Launch HTTrack and create a new project. HTTrack stores each page that you have saved as a "project". This allows you to easily select archived pages to update.

3. 

   Give the project a name and choose where to save it.. HTTrack recommends that you create a directory for the entire saved website, then give each page a name. HTTrack will build separate folders for each project in the root directory.

   Select "Download web site (s)" and enter the address. If you want to host the entire website, you have to start with the site base address.

5. 

   Click the "Finish" or "Start" button to begin copying the web page. A progress bar will appear when HTTrack starts to download all the content from the website. This process will take quite a while, especially for large pages or slow transmission.
   • By default, HTTrack will track all the links on the website and download the content found (provided they are on the same website). Thus, HTTrack can avoid downloading all the contents on the Internet to the computer.

6. 

   Review the archived page. After the archiving is complete, you can open the project folder and run the .html file of your website. You will be able to navigate on all pages, even offline.
   • If a streaming video is available on the site, you won't be able to watch it unless you have a network connection.

Advice

• You can save web pages when you're on the go, or if you can't access Wi-Fi or connect to the Internet for an extended period of time. You can view web pages offline at any time without an Internet connection.
• Web page saving is also useful when you need to save important information, for reference or for later access. When you save the website, the content on the page will be captured indefinitely, even when an administrator accesses and performs editing or deleting website content.
