This article shows you how to send photos from your iPhone or Android phone to a Windows or Mac computer. You can use the cable to do this or send the photos to your computer via Google Drive.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: On Windows

1. 

   . Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen.

2. 

   Type photos Go to Start to find the Photos application in this menu.

   Click Import (Import) in the upper-right corner of the Photos window.

   Click on the link Another device (Other devices) on the right side of the window.

   Wait for your computer to find pictures. It will take some time for the computer to find the connected devices, such as USB flash drives and your phone.

   Choose a photo to send. By default, all photos and videos on your phone are selected; you click on the selected photo to deselect or click Clear all (Delete All) to deselect all photos and videos, then click only the ones you want.

   View data entry settings. There are a few things you can change before entering data:

Method 2 of 4: Use iPhone on Mac

1. 

   Connect iPhone to computer. Attach one end of the USB charging cord to your phone, then attach the other end to your computer's USB port.
   • If your Mac doesn't have a USB port, you'll need to purchase a USB-C to USB-3.0 adapter.

2. 

   Open Photos. Click the Photos app with the multicolored pinwheel icon on a white background in the Mac's Dock.

   Click the card Import (Enter) in the upper-right corner of the window.

4. 

   Choose a photo to send. Click to select each photo you want to send.
   • You can also click Import All New Photos (Import all new photos) in the upper-right corner of the Photos window.

   Click Import Selected (Import selected photos) near the top-right corner of the Photos window. This will start copying the photos to your Mac.
   • Skip this step if you clicked before Import All New Photos.

6. 

   Wait until the photo is finished sending. Depending on the number of photos you need to send, this process may take a while.

7. 

   Decide if you want to keep the photos on your iPhone. When asked, you can click Delete Items (Delete) or Keep Items (Hold). This will delete the photo or keep it on your iPhone.

   Alternatively, use iCloud to upload to your Mac. As long as you use iCloud's photo library, you won't need to manually transfer photos. The photo will be uploaded to the cloud directly without user interaction. If you have a Mac, open the Photos app and select your phone to import the photos you need.

Method 3 of 4: Use Android on a Mac

1. 

   Connect Android to Mac. Use the Android charging cord to connect your Android phone to one of the computer's USB ports.
   • If your Mac doesn't have a USB, you'll need to purchase a USB-C to USB-3.0 adapter.
   • If your Android phone asks you to select a connection type, tap Media device (MTP) screen before proceeding.

   Download and install Android File Transfer in the following way:
   • Visit http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
   • Click DOWNLOAD NOW (Download now)
   • Install Android File Transfer

3. 

   Open Android File Transfer. If Android File Transfer doesn't start automatically, click the spaceship icon in the Dock, then the green Android icon.

   Double-click the "Internal storage" or "SD card" folder. Depending on the folder where the photos are saved and the type of storage available on your Android device, you'll see a slight difference here.

   Double-click the "DCIM" folder.

   Double-click the "Camera" folder. This is the place to save all your Android device photos. This will display a list of photos available on your Android device.
   • Depending on whether the photo is saved in the album, you may need to open another folder before continuing.

   Select the photo of the Android device. Click and drag the mouse over the photos you want to send to your computer to select all of them. You can also hold down the key ⌘ Command while clicking each photo to select multiple images at once.
   • To select all the pictures in the folder, press ⌘ Command+A.

   Click Edit (Edit) in the upper-left corner of the Mac screen to open a list of choices.

   Click Copy (Copy) is near the top of the menu Edit.

    Open Finder. Click the app with the blue face in the Mac's Dock.

    Choose where to save. Click on a folder (for example All My Files) on the left side of the Finder window to select the folder to save the image.

Method 4 of 4: Use Google Drive

1. 

   Make sure you have Google Drive installed on your phone. If you don't have Google Drive yet, you'll need to download it to your iPhone or Android before continuing. Google Drive is free to download and use.

   Android phones can automatically sync with Google Photos. With Google Drive and Google Photos, your Android phone can automatically upload photos without your hand. You can manage and download photos by going to www.photos.google.com.

2. 

   Open Goolge Drive. Tap the Google Drive app with a green, blue, and yellow triangle icon. Google Drive will show up when you're signed in.
   • If you aren't logged in, you'll need to first select a Google account to use with Google Drive. Make sure this is an account that you can use on your computer.

3. 

   Touch the button + The blue color is in the lower right corner of the screen to open the menu.

   Touch Upload (Upload file) with arrow icon up in menu.

5. 

   Touch Photos and Videos (Photos and Videos) to open your phone's Photos app.
   • On Android, you'll need to choose Images (Photo) at this step.

6. 

   Choose a photo to upload. Tap the album if needed, then tap each photo you want to upload to select it.

7. 

   Touch UPLOAD in the top-right corner of the screen.

8. 

   Wait until the upload is completed. The waiting time will vary depending on the number of photos you upload and the internet connection speed.

9. 

   Open Goolge Drive on your computer. Go to https://drive.google.com/ using your web browser. The Google Drive home page will open once you're signed in.
   • If not logged in, click Go to Google Drive (Go to Goolge Drive) in the middle of the page, then enter your email address and password.
   • If you're signed in to multiple Google accounts, make sure you have the same Drive account used on your phone. You can click on your name badge in the upper-right corner of the Google Drive page and choose the correct account.

10. 

    Select the photo you uploaded. Click and drag over the number of photos just uploaded. You will see the image highlighted in blue.

11. 

    Click ⋮ in the top-right corner of the page to open a drop-down menu.

12. 

    Click Download (Download) in selection list. This will start downloading the selected pictures to your computer.

13. 

    Wait for the photo upload to complete. After the download is complete, you can open the folder containing the pictures to view the pictures on your computer. advertisement

Advice

• Some phone-specific apps, such as iCloud on iPhone and Google Photos on Android, let you send photos back and forth between your computer and smartphone via apps and web browsers.

• If you decide to use Google Drive, be sure to upload photos while connected to Wi-Fi. Uploading photos using mobile data may incur additional billing costs.
