An unknown number (an unknown number) is a number that you cannot recognize, while a restricted number is an unknown number of caller ID. Steps

Method 1 of 4: Know when to call an anonymous number

   Listen to the ring once. You should be wary if you hear the phone ring only once. If it's not a scam, maybe they just got the wrong number.

   Check the area code. If the number is displayed, you can look it up online. Scammers often call from a country with the same international area code (+1), (such as the United States) so the phone number will look like a domestic call. However, if you do a search you may recognize this as an overseas call based on the area code.
   • As a rule of thumb, if you don't recognize the area code, it's best not to call back.
   • The majority of these calls come from the Dominican Republic (809), Jamaica (876), British Virgin Islands (284) and Grenada (473).
   • Do not answer calls from 900 numbers, this is a special number and charges will be billed to the listener.
   • In addition, there are online services that allow you to look up phone numbers. You can look for the keyword "reverse lookup" or "find out who called me" (find out who called me).

   Check your message. Some people who try to call you about something important will leave a message or contact you in other ways. If you see missed calls from unknown numbers or hidden numbers, it may not matter. So, don't call back!
   • If the person left a message or the phone number just called 800 (toll-free number), you can dare to call again.
   • Scammers never leave messages because they operate on an extremely limited budget and do not have the ability to make international calls.

   Be careful with charges on your phone bill. If you find strange charges on your phone bill, especially for vague content like "special services" or "unknown services", call your carrier and tell them about improper charges. Usually, they will refund you.
   • If you have dialed an unknown number and heard the other end of the message recording, check the phone bill carefully. If you have called and heard the "adult service" voice recording, you will definitely be charged an unexpected fee.
   • Don't be afraid to ask your carrier to reimburse you for the fee. Phishing calls are a daily problem for them.

   Call the number you know. Sometimes scammers will leave a message with a phone number for you to call. If you receive voice or text messages from someone claiming to be a bank, mobile operator, or hospital, call this organization directly with the number you have, not call back suspicious number above. advertisement

Method 2 of 4: Recognize the restricted number

1. 

   Purchase of identity services. To identify a restricted number, you can use a paid service, such as "Call Unblock" or "Trapcall" to display the caller number. This method is only applicable to smartphones.

   Check out recommended friends. If you use an app (such as Facebook) on your phone, you can identify the caller in the list of suggested friends. Method 3 of 4: Block unwanted calls

1. 

   Block restricted numbers. Contact your carrier and ask them to block restricted numbers from calling you.    Register your phone number with the Do Not Call federal directory if in the US. To end the phone greetings, call 1-888-382-1222 (voice call) or 1-866-290-4236 (TTY call for the disabled) with the phone you want to post. Sign, or go to www.donotcall.gov and sign up for phone number here. After 31 days, all commercial invitations will stop.    Submit a complaint. In the US, if the telephone salesman keeps calling or you need to complain about the ongoing harassment number, call one of the following numbers: 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225 -5322); TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-835-5322); ASL (American Sign Language): 1-844-432-2275. Method 4 of 4: By Call Return feature on landline

1. 

   Call immediately. If your landline rings and there is no voicemail, you can use the "Call Return" feature to call the last number. However, this only works for the last call you received, so you must call back right before another number calls.

   Dial code * 69. When dialing the code * 69, you will hear all registered information of the caller. You will also have the option to call them back. Press 1 to call after prompted.

   Hopefully this code doesn't work. * 69 is only available for calls from landlines in the area. If this person calls from mobile, long distance or international, hidden numbers, 800 or 900, you will not be able to use the Call Return service.

Advice

• If you do not want to receive anonymous calls, you can contact your carrier to ask them to block incoming calls, or manually set up settings on your mobile phone to only receive calls from phonebook contacts.
