This wikiHow teaches you how to install the Kodi media player on the Amazon Fire Stick (Amazon TV entertainment suite). You will be able to use the Kodi app on Amazon Fire TV. To install Kodi on a Fire TV, you first need to allow apps to be installed from unknown sources, which can increase the risk of accidentally downloading unsupported or malicious apps.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Enabling Kodi on TV

1. 

   Turn on Fire TV. The Amazon Fire TV home screen will load.

   Scroll up and select the section Settings (Setting). These are 5 cards located on the right side of the main screen. The Settings menu will open.

   Scroll up and select the item Applications (Application). Menu Applications will open.

   Choose Collect App Usage Data (Collection of application usage data). This is the option at the top of the menu Applications. A window will pop up.

   Choose Turn Off (Off) when prompted.

   Go back to the Settings menu. Press the "back" button on the remote.

   Scroll up and select the item Device (Device). Menu Device will open.

8. 

   Scroll down and select Developer options (Developer options). This item is near the top of the menu Device.

   Choose ADB debugging to turn on debugging tools.
   • If you see the status ON Below this option it means that ADB debugging is enabled.

10. 

    Scroll down and select Apps from Unknown Sources (Application from unknown source). A window will pop up.
    • If the status ON displayed below the title Apps from Unknown Sources then you don't have to turn it on.

11. 

    Choose Turn On (On). This will let you install apps from sources other than the Play Store, including Kodi.

    Return to the Amazon home screen. Press the "back" button until you return to the main screen, or press the "Home" button of the house (if available). advertisement

Part 2 of 3: Installing Downloader App

1. 

   Open search. Select the "Search" tab with the magnifying glass in the upper left corner of the screen. A text box will appear.

   Import downloader go to Search. As you type, a list of collapsed suggestions will appear below your on-screen keyboard.

3. 

   Choose Downloader. This is the only app recommendation that appears below the keyboard. The Downloader application will be found in the store.

4. 

   Choose an application Downloader. This app has an orange frame icon with the word "Downloader" and a very large arrow above it. The application's page will open.

5. 

   Choose Get it (Receive) or Download (Download). This option is on the left side of the screen, just below the Downloader app description. The Downloader app will start downloading Fire TV.

6. 

   Choose Open (Open). Once the download is complete, this option will appear; Select Open to open the Downloader app and start downloading Kodi. advertisement

Part 3 of 3: Installing Kodi

1. 

   Choose OK if asked. The new feature notification will close.

2. 

   Select the URL box. The cursor will appear automatically, so just press the button in the middle of the remote to open the on-screen keyboard.

3. 

   Enter a Kodi download address. Import kodi.tv in the URL box, then select Go. Kodi's website will appear.

4. 

   Choose OK when prompted. Now you can start interacting with the website.

5. 

   Scroll down and select the icon with the mascot image Android.

6. 

   Scroll down and select Android. This option still looks like Android android, but it is green. The Kodi download page for Android opens.

7. 

   Scroll down and select ARMV7A (32BIT) below the title "Kodi v17.4 'Krypton'". Kodi will begin downloading the Fire Stick device.
   • If you have a larger Amazon Fire TV box (instead of the Fire Stick type), choose the version 64BIT.

8. 

   Choose INSTALL (Settings) in the lower right corner of the screen. Kodi will begin installing. The whole installation will only take a few seconds, after which you can choose OPEN at the bottom of the screen to open Kodi.
   • You can also click the image button ☰ on the remote when prompted to open Kodi.

Advice

• If you've never updated Kodi, proceed by opening the Kodi page on the Downloader app and looking for the latest version for Android.

Warning

• You should be cautious when downloading third-party apps after enabling the option “Apps from Unknown Sources”.
