This wikiHow teaches you how to send a map with your current location to other WhatsApp contacts.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On an iPhone

1. 

   Open WhatsApp. The app has a white phone icon on a green background.
   • If this is your first time using WhatsApp, you'll need to set up the app before proceeding.

   Click on the card Chats (Chat) at the bottom of the screen. Here, you can choose a chat.
   • If WhatsApp has a conversation open, tap the "Back" button in the upper left corner of the screen.

   Tap a conversation. The conversation with the respective contact will appear.
   • You can also tap the "New Message" icon in the upper-right corner of the "Chats" page, then select a contact to text.

   Click on the mark + in the lower left corner of the screen. A menu will pop up.

   Click Location (Location) is near the bottom of the new pop-up menu.

   Click Send Your Location (Submit your location) right below the map at the top of the screen. A map with red pins showing your location is sent; recipients can click the "Share" arrow mark in the lower left corner of the screen, then click Open in Maps (Open in map) to get directions.
   • You may need to click Allow (Allow) in advance for WhatsApp to access your location settings.

Method 2 of 2: On Android

1. 

   Open WhatsApp. The app has a white phone icon on a green background.
   • If this is your first time using WhatsApp, you'll need to set up the app before proceeding.

2. 

   Click on the card Chats in the upper left corner of the screen. A list of available chats will appear.
   • If WhatsApp opens a conversation, tap the "Back" button in the upper left corner of the screen.

3. 

   Tap a conversation. The conversation with the respective contact will appear.
   • You can also tap the green "New Message" icon in the lower right corner of the "Chats" page and choose a contact to send a new message.

4. 

   Click the paperclip in the lower right corner of the screen, just to the left of the camera icon.

5. 

   Click Location is at the bottom of the drop-down menu above the screen.

6. 

   Click Send your current location right below the map near the top of the screen. The map with the indicator showing your location is sent to the selected contact. advertisement

Advice

• Most phones need to have Wi-Fi turned on for a more accurate GPS search.

Warning

• Don't share your location with strangers or a chat group that includes people you don't trust.
