This article will show you how to see which of your friends are active on Facebook Messenger.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Use phone or tablet

1. 

   Open the Facebook Messenger app. The icon is a blue conversation bubble with a white flash inside, visible on the home screen or in the app tray (Android).
   • If you are not logged in, please log in following the instructions on the screen.

   Click the contacts icon. This icon looks like a bulleted list at the bottom of the screen, to the right of a large blue circle.

   Press the button Active (Operation) near the top of the screen. This will bring up a list of all active contacts on Messenger. You should see a small green dot next to the avatar of your active friend. advertisement

Method 2 of 2: Use a calculator

   Visit the page https://www.messenger.com from the browser. This is the main page of the Facebook Messenger application.

   Login to your Facebook account. If you're signed in, you'll see a list of recent Messenger chats. If not, press Continue as (your name) (Continue under your name (your account name)) or enter the login information required.

   Click the blue gear icon in the upper left corner of the screen.

4. 

   Click an option Active Contacts (Active contact person). You should see a list of active contacts on Messenger.
   • If you only see your name, switch the side switch to On (green), and active contacts are displayed.
