So you're trying to sell your car, but your bumper has a “Lost Cat? Look Under My Wheels” sticker on your bumper, which doesn't increase your ability to sell your car. The bumper sticker is easy to remove without damaging it. To do this, you need a hair dryer and some spray lubricant.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Using a hair dryer

  1. 1 Find a powerful hairdryer or rent a heat gun.
  2. 2 Keep the hair dryer about 15 cm away from the decal and heat it for 1-2 minutes. If the corner of the sticker does not lag, heat it up longer. Hold the heat gun about 20-30 cm from the sticker. It will heat the sticker much faster than a hair dryer.
  3. 3 Try picking up the corner of the sticker with your fingernail or razor. Do not tear off the sticker, but slowly peel off towards the rest.
  4. 4 Pull the sticker slowly in the opposite direction and continue heating as needed.
  5. 5 After removing the sticker, clean the remaining adhesive with a car cleaner such as PPG Ditzo DX 440. This area may need to be reapplied with wax.

Method 2 of 2: Using a lubricant

  1. 1 Pick up the corner of the sticker with your fingernail or razor.
  2. 2 Spray a lubricant such as WD-40 or Triflow on the exposed part of the decal. This should release the sticker so you can continue cleaning.
  3. 3 Continue spraying the lubricant and peeling off the sticker until you are completely free of it.
  4. 4 Wipe down the now clean bumper to remove excess grease.

Tips

  • A hair dryer or heat gun is used to soften the glue.
  • Remember to pull the corner slowly towards the sticker, not in the opposite direction.

Warnings

  • If a hairdryer doesn't do the job, you can rent a heat gun. Be careful not to place your fingers in front of the gun or touch it from the side as you may get burned.
  • Do not use too much lubricant to prevent damage to the paint.
  • Be very careful when using razor blades on paint. Use the blade only to grab a corner.
  • Do not heat the decal with a heat gun too much, as it may melt the decal and paint on the bumper (if it is not metal).
