This wikiHow teaches you how to check the status of an incoming or outgoing friend request on Snapchat. You can do this on both iPhone and Android smartphones.

To step

Method 1 of 3: View pending friend requests

  1. Open Tap your profile icon. This icon is in the top left corner of the screen.
  2. Tap on Add friends. This is at the top of the page.
  3. Check the names in the "ME ADDED" section. Any name that appears under the "ME ADDED" section belongs to a Snapchat user who added you as a friend.
    • You can add people listed here by clicking to the right of their name Accept tapping.

Method 2 of 3: See who added you on iPhone

  1. Open Check the section for open requests. If the person just added you, you'll receive a notification in the pending section. To check if you have notifications, do the following:
    • Tap the profile icon in the top left corner of the screen.
    • Tap on Add friends.
    • Look for names under the heading "ME ADDED" at the top of the screen.
    • If you don't see any names here, tap the back button in the top left corner, then tap X in the top left corner.
  2. Tap the "Friends" icon. It's a speech bubble icon at the bottom left of the screen. This will open a list of recent snapchats and conversations.
  3. Tap the "New Chat" icon. This speech bubble icon is located in the top right corner of the screen. You will see a list of your friends appear.
  4. Find the friend you want to check. Scroll down until you see the name of the person you want to check the status of your friend request for.
  5. Press and hold the friend's name. If you do this for about a second, a pop-up menu will appear telling you that the person's information appears.
  6. View the friend's information. If you see a blue button to the right of his or her name with the white text "Added", he or she hasn't added you yet; otherwise, the person responded to your friend request by adding you.

Method 3 of 3: See who added you on Android

  1. Open Check the section for open requests. If the person just added you, you'll receive a notification in the pending section. To check if you have notifications, do the following:
    • Tap the profile icon at the bottom left of the screen.
    • Tap on Add friends.
    • Look for names under the heading "ME ADDED" at the top of the screen.
    • If you don't see any names here, tap the back button in the top left corner, then tap X in the top left corner.
  2. Take a snap. Point your Android at a non-objectionable object and tap the "Capture" circle at the bottom of the screen. This will take a photo snap.
  3. Tap on Send to. It's at the bottom right of the screen.
  4. Select your friend. Tap the name of the person you want to check the status of your friend request.
    • You may have to scroll down to find it.
  5. Tap on Send. It's at the bottom right of the screen. This will send your snap to the person and return you to the "Friends" page.
  6. Refresh the "Friends" page. Swipe down on the "Friends" page and release the screen. This ensures that you see the most current results.
  7. Check the "Sent" icon. If the "Sent" icon below your snap is a red arrow, the person added you. If this arrow is gray and has the word "Pending" next to it, the person hasn't added you yet.
    • It may be a good idea to refresh the page two or three times to be on the safe side - it may take a few seconds for the "Sent" icon to change from red to gray if your friend request is still pending.

Tips

  • With Snapchat notifications turned on, you will be notified when someone adds you as a friend.

Warnings

  • If you don't know the person who added you, ignore their friend request.
