This wikiHow teaches you how to reset a Windows 10 computer and system. Windows 10 makes it easy to reset your entire system and delete all your personal files, apps, and custom settings from your settings menu.

1. Open the Start menu. Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner of your screen to open the Start menu.
2. click on Settings in the Start menu. This option is next to a gear icon in the menu. The Settings menu opens in a new window.
3. Click on the option Update and security. This option looks like a blue rotating arrow in the settings menu.
4. click on Recovery in the left sidebar. Update and security options are listed in a navigation menu on the left side of the window. Click here on the Recovery-option.
5. Press the button To work under "Reset this PC". With this option you can reinstall the Windows operating system on your computer and reset your entire system.
6. click on Delete everything. This option will delete all your personal files, apps and settings without saving any backups.
   • If you want to back up your personal files, select here Keep my files. This will delete all your apps and settings during the reset, but make sure to back up all your files, such as photos, music and documents.
7. click on Delete files and clean the drive. This option will delete everything on your computer and perform a full and thorough system reset.
   • If you're short on time, consider just staying here Only delete files to select. Keep in mind that this option is less secure and will not delete all data on your drive.
8. click on Next one in the warning window. This confirms that you want to reset your computer, and you can start this now on the next page.
9. Press the button Reset / Reset in the "Ready to reset this PC" window. The computer will reboot automatically and start the process of resetting the system.
   • Here your computer will reinstall the Windows 10 operating system to format your entire system.
10. Wait for the system to reset. Depending on the size of your drive, your files and the processing power of your computer, the reset can take from a few minutes to a few hours.
