It is very simple to watch YouTube videos. You just need the YouTube website or the mobile app for your smartphone or tablet.

To step

Method 1 of 3: Using the YouTube app (iOS)

1. Open the App Store.
2. Tap on Search. This is the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your screen.
3. Type "youtube" here.
4. Tap "YouTube". This is the first result in the drop-down menu.
5. Tap "YouTube".
6. Tap on To download. This button is in the top right corner of your screen.
   • If you have already downloaded YouTube, there is a cloud icon with a down arrow here.
7. Tap on to install.
8. Enter your Apple ID and password, if prompted.
9. Wait for YouTube to finish downloading.
10. Open the YouTube app.
11. Tap the magnifying glass. It's in the top right corner of your screen.
12. Type in a search query.
13. Tap on Search.
14. Tap a video you want to watch. It should now start playing automatically.
    • Tap the video to pause it. Tap again to resume the video.
15. Tap the "Share" button. This is the right arrow, below the video.
16. Tap a sharing option. Your options are:
    • Copy link
    • Share on Facebook
    • Share with Gmail
    • Share on Twitter
    • Share via email
    • Share in a post
    • Share via WhatsApp
    • More (share via your device's messaging app)
17. Follow the steps of the option you chose. You have now watched and shared a YouTube video!

Method 2 of 3: With the YouTube App (Android)

1. Open the Google Play Store.
2. Tap the magnifying glass icon.
3. Type "youtube" here.
4. Tap on Search.
5. Tap "YouTube".
6. Tap on to install.
7. Tap on Accept.
8. Wait for YouTube to finish downloading.
9. Open the YouTube app.
10. Tap the magnifying glass. It's in the top right corner of your screen.
11. Type in a search query.
12. Tap on Search.
13. Tap a video you want to watch. It should now start playing automatically.
    • Tap the video to pause it. Tap again to resume the video.
14. Tap the "Share" button. This is the right arrow above the video.
    • If you don't see this option, tap the video once.
15. Tap a sharing option. Your options are:
    • Copy link
    • Share on Facebook
    • Share with Gmail
    • Share on Twitter
    • Share via email
    • Share in a post
    • Share via WhatsApp
    • More (share via your device's messaging app)
16. Follow the steps of the option you chose. You now know how to open and share a YouTube video on Android!

Method 3 of 3: Using the YouTube site (Desktop)

1. Go to YouTube.
2. Click on the "Search" field. This one is at the top of the page.
3. Type in a search query.
4. Press ↵ Enter. You can also click on the magnifying glass to the right of the search bar.
5. Click on a video you want to watch. Now you know how to watch a YouTube video!
   • Click on the video to pause it. Click again to resume the video.
6. Click on the arrow for Share. This one is below the YouTube video.
7. Right-click on the selected link. You can also click on any of the platforms to split your video.
8. click on To copy.
9. Paste the YouTube link on a website. You do this by right-clicking on a text field (such as in an email or status update) and then clicking To stick.
10. Go back to your video. You have now watched and shared a YouTube video!

Tips

• YouTube is a huge source of content, from dry news to weird humor.

Warnings

• On certain networks, such as in some schools, YouTube may be blocked and you will not be able to load the website.
• Be aware of how much time you spend watching videos. You can easily waste hours on YouTube without realizing it.
