This wikiHow teaches you how to install Microsoft Word updates on a computer running Windows or macOS.

Method 1 of 2: Windows

1. Press the button click on All apps.
2. Scroll down and click Microsoft Office.
3. click on Microsoft Word. The name depends on your version of Word.
4. Click on the menu File. You can find this in the top left corner of the screen.
5. click on Account. This option is located at the bottom of the left column.
6. click on Update options. This option is next to "Office Updates".
7. click on Edit now. Windows now checks online for updates to Microsoft Word. If these updates are found, they will be downloaded and installed.
8. Enable "Automatic Updates". You can ensure that Windows Word and other Microsoft software updates automatically from now on:
   • Press the button Open Microsoft Word on your Mac. You'll usually find Word in the folder Programs and in the Launchpad.
   • Click on the menu Help. This is at the top of the screen.
   • click on Check for updates. Microsoft "Auto Update" opens.
     • If you don't see this tool, go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3133674 to install it. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link under "Microsoft Download Center" to download the package.
   • Select how updates should be installed.
     • To have AutoUpdate automatically manage updates to Word and other Office products, select Download automatically and to install. If you'd rather be notified to install updates than have this process done automatically, select instead Check automatically.
     • To keep updating Word manually, select Check manually.
   • click on Check for updates. If updates for Microsoft Word are found, a website will open with instructions on how to install them.
