This article will teach you how to record live streaming videos with OBS Studio, and how to download and save video streams that are not live with services such as KeepVid.com and Savefrom.net. Keep in mind that you can violate copyrights by downloading videos for which you do not have permission.

Method 1 of 3: Record live video streams with OBS Studio

1. Go to the website of OBS. Use the link or type "obsproject.com" in the URL bar of your browser.
2. click on Download and click on your operating system. Follow the instructions to install the program.
   • OBS Studio works on Windows 7 or higher, Mac OS 10.9 or higher and Linux.
3. Open OBS Studio. The icon is round and white with three commas.
   • When you get a message to view the user agreement, click OK.
   • The first time you open the program, you will be asked to use the configuration utility. Click on it Yes if you want OBS to guide you through the configuration of the program.
4. Open the video stream you want to record.
5. click on +. This button is located at the bottom of the OBS window, below the panel labeled "Sources".
6. click on Window Capture. This is at the bottom of the pop-up menu.
7. Enter a title for the stream you want to record.
   • Make sure the "Create new" option at the top of the dialog box is selected.
8. click on OK.
9. Click the drop-down menu in the center of the dialog box.
10. Click the window with the video stream you want to record.
    • If you don't want your cursor to be in the recording, deselect the "Show Cursor" option.
11. click on OK.
12. If you have not already done so, start the video stream.
    • It's best to increase the stream so that it takes up as much screen space as possible.
13. click on Start Recording. This button is located in the lower right corner of the OBS window.
14. click on Stop Recording when you're done. The video stream is now saved on your computer.
    • To watch your recorded video, click File in the menu bar, then on Show Recordings.

Method 2 of 3: Download videos with KeepVid.com

1. Go to a video streaming website. In your web browser, go to a website with video streams, such as YouTube.com.
2. Search for a video. Type the title or description of a video in the search bar at the top of the website.
3. Click on a video to select it.
4. Copy the URL of the video. You do this by clicking on the URL bar at the top of your browser, clicking edit in the menu bar, and then clicking Select all. Then click again edit, and then on To copy.
5. Go to KeepVid.com. Type "keepvid.com" in the URL bar of your browser and press ⏎ Return.
6. Click on the link field. This is at the top of the browser window.
7. Click Edit in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
8. Click on Paste. You now paste the YouTube link in the link field.
9. Click on Download. This is the blue button to the right of the link you just entered.
10. Select the video quality. You will see a list of available resolutions for the video. Click on the resolution you want for your video.
    • The "pro" quality is only available for a fee.
11. Click on the newly opened tab or window. The video will start downloading in a new tab or window. Once the video is downloaded, you can watch it whenever you want, even without an internet connection.

Method 3 of 3: Download videos with Savefrom.net

1. Go to a video streaming website. In your web browser, go to a website with video streams, such as YouTube.com.
2. Search for a video. Type the title or description of a video in the search bar at the top of the website.
3. Click on a video to select it.
4. Copy the URL of the video. You do this by clicking on the URL bar at the top of your browser, clicking edit in the menu bar, and then clicking Select all. Then click again edit, and then on To copy.
5. Go to SaveFrom.net. Type "savefrom.net" in the URL bar of your browser and press ⏎ Return.
6. Click on the link field. This is just below the Savefrom.net logo in the browser window.
7. Click Edit in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
8. Click on Paste. You now paste the YouTube link in the link field.
9. Click>. This is the blue button to the right of the link you just entered.
10. click on download video in browser. This button is located in the bottom right corner of the window.
11. Select the video quality. Click on the text to the right of the green "Download" button that appears below the completed link. You will now open a menu with available video formats and qualities. Click on an option to select it.
12. Click on Download. You will now see a dialog where you can name the file.
13. Select a storage location.
14. Click on Save. This is the blue button in the lower right corner of the dialog. The video will now be downloaded to your computer. You can always watch the video offline after this.
