This wikiHow teaches you how to scan a contact's QR code to add it as a friend on Facebook, and how to view your own personal QR code and share the code with your contacts via Android.

Method 1 of 2: Scan QR Codes

1. Open the Facebook app on your Android phone. The Facebook icon resembles a white "f" on a blue square button. You can find it in your Apps menu.
2. Tap the search icon Type QR code in the search bar and tap the search icon. Use the onscreen keyboard to type "QR Code" and tap the magnifying glass icon in the lower right corner of the onscreen keyboard to search Facebook for the QR Code app.
3. Tap on QR code in the search results. This should be at the top of the search results list. It's a blue icon with an image that resembles a white QR code. Tap this search result to open the Facebook QR code app.
   • The search result with a thumbs up icon next to it is the QR code Facebook page. Don't confuse this option with the Facebook app.
4. Scan a QR code with your Android phone's camera. The QR code you want to scan must be aligned within the camera frame on your screen. The app will automatically recognize the code. You will be redirected to the page linked to the QR code.
   • If it is too dark for the camera, tap the flash icon in the top right corner. This will activate your Android phone's camera flash to help you scan the code.
   • You can also press the button Import from the gallery tap the bottom of the frame, and choose a QR code from your image gallery.
5. Tap the icon that looks like a person with a plus sign (+) next to their head. This will be next to the blue "Message" button and will send a friend request to the affected person. If the person accepts your request, they will be added as a friend.

Method 2 of 2: Save your Facebook QR code

1. Open your Facebook app on your Android phone. The Facebook icon resembles a white "f" on a blue square button. You can find it in your Apps menu.
2. Tap the search icon Type QR code in the search bar and tap the search icon. Use the on-screen keyboard to type "QR Code" and tap the magnifying glass icon in the lower right corner of the on-screen keyboard to search Facebook for the QR Code app.
3. Tap on QR code in the search results. This should be at the top of the search results list. It's a blue icon with an image that resembles a white QR code. Tap this search result to open the Facebook QR code app.
4. Tap the tab at the top My code. This button is located just next to Scanner at the top of the screen. Your personal QR code will be displayed on a new page.
   • Your contacts can scan your personal QR code to view your profile and add you as a friend.
5. Tap the button Save to phone. This is a blue button just below your personal QR code and will save a screenshot of your personal QR code in your Android phone image gallery.
   • You can send this screenshot to your contacts via a message or e-mail.
6. Tap the button Share. This is a blue button at the bottom of your screen. With this you can choose an app to share your personal QR code with your contacts.
7. Choose an app to share your personal QR code. You can post your personal QR code on social media, send it as a message in a messaging app, or attach it to an email.
   • Tapping on an app will open the chosen app. Depending on the app you have chosen, you can choose contacts, compose a message or just tap the send button to share your code.

Tips

• You can use the Facebook QR code scanner to scan QR codes that are not Facebook pages.
