This wikiHow teaches you how to disable the "Work Offline" feature in Microsoft Outlook.
To step
Method 1 of 2: In Windows
Open Outlook. Click or double-click the Outlook icon, which looks like a white "O" on a dark blue box.
Make sure Outlook is offline. There are a few clues to find out if Outlook is currently in "Work Offline" mode:
- A "You are working offline" box will appear in the lower right corner of the Outlook window.
- A white "X" appears on a red circle on the Outlook icon in the taskbar (Windows only).
Click on the tab Send / receive. This is the blue ribbon at the top of the Outlook window. A menu will appear at the top of the window.
Make sure the button Work offline is active. You can find this option on the far right of the menu Send / receive. When the button is active, the background or button is dark gray.
- If the background is not dark gray, then "Work Offline" is not active.
Press the button Work offline. You can find this in the far right corner of the menu.
- If the button is not active, click it twice - once to activate "Work Offline" mode and once to deactivate it - before continuing.
Wait for the message "You are working offline" to disappear. When this notification disappears from the bottom right corner of the window, Outlook should be online.
- You may need to toggle the "Work Offline" feature on and off a few times before "Work Offline" is turned off.
Method 2 of 2: On a Mac
Open Outlook. Click or double-click the Outlook icon, which resembles a white "O" on a dark blue background.
click on Outlook. This option can be found in the menu bar at the top of the screen. This will open a drop-down menu.
click on Work offline. This is the third option in the drop-down menu. When Outlook is in offline mode, you will see a check mark next to "Work Offline" in the main window of the Outlook drop-down menu. To disable offline mode, make sure there is no check mark next to "Work Offline" in the main window of the Outlook drop-down menu.
