One of the many quick crimes you can commit to make some money in Grand Theft Auto 5 is robbing ATMs. This petty crime will earn you a few tens to a hundred dollars. However, you can't rob an ATM directly like you would rob a cashier. But there is a simple way in which you can easily get some money out of it.

1. Find an ATM. There are more than enough ATMs in the game world. Usually they can be found at banks, gas stations, day and night shops and other types of commercial buildings. You can find a number of ATMs you can use at Xero Gas Station in Pacific Bluffs, west of Los Santos; at a bank in Little Seoul, in downtown Los Santos, or at Fleeca Bank in Banham Canyon.
2. Wait for someone to use it. Once you find an ATM, you will have to wait a while for a pedestrian to walk up to the ATM and use it. It doesn't matter whether you wait next to the ATM or in your car. What is important is that you do not attack while the pedestrian is using the machine, as this will hardly get you anything.
3. Follow the pedestrian. As soon as the pedestrian is done with the ATM you have to go after him. Follow the pedestrian until there are no more spectators around, and at least until there are no more police around to arrest you.
4. Kill the pedestrian. Once everything is safe, kill the pedestrian who used the ATM with whatever weapon you are carrying. Once your target is killed, all the money he has withdrawn from the ATM will fall to the floor. Quickly run over to collect the money before it disappears.
5. Leave the environment. Ambulances and police will arrive at the scene of the crime shortly after you kill the pedestrian. Re-enter your car and quickly exit the area to avoid being stopped. Then you can drive to the next ATM and re-apply the same method there.
