Do you also enjoy watching "It's always sunny in Philadelphia"? Then you might know that Charlie Kelly's favorite dish is "hard-boiled milk steak with raw jelly beans." This famous milk steak is featured in the episode "The Waitress is Getting Married".

Ingredients

  • Milk steak:
  • 250 grams of steak
  • 500 ml of whole milk
  • 60 ml of honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Garnish:
  • 1/2 cup of jelly beans

To step

  1. Place the milk, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture and keep stirring until the honey has dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Carefully place the steak in the boiling milk mixture.
  5. Bring the mixture back to a boil and reduce the heat to keep the milk simmering.
  6. Cook the steak on one side for five minutes, stirring occasionally so that no skin gets on the milk.
  7. Flip the steak and cook it on the other side for an additional five minutes.
  8. Check if the steak is cooked. If you want to make it exactly like Charlie, the steak should be cooked through well, and it shouldn't be pink at all.
  9. Let the steak rest for five minutes.
  10. Garnish with jelly beans.

Tips

  • For a healthier choice, use semi-skimmed or low-fat milk.
  • For a larger steak, use a larger pan and proportionally more ingredients
  • In normal cooking, it may be necessary to marinate the meat to make it more tender. But this may not be necessary with this unusual method. Tastes differ though, so if you want to marinate it, do that.
  • Gourmets can try all kinds of special types of jelly beans.
