This wikiHow teaches you how to read MOBI format ebooks on Kindle or a MOBI reader on an iPhone or iPad.

Method 1 of 2: When using the Kindle app

1. Email the MOBI file to yourself. The Kindle app only displays MOBI books purchased through the app. By downloading the file as an email attachment, you can still open it.
2. Open the mail app on your iPhone or iPad. This is the blue and white envelope icon usually found at the bottom of the screen.
   • If you're using another email app, open it.
3. Tap the message containing the MOBI file. The content of the message is displayed.
4. Tap on Tap to download. This is stated at the bottom of the message. A Kindle icon replaces the text “Tap to Download”.
5. Tap the Kindle icon. It's right in the area where the "Tap to Download" button was. A menu will appear.
6. Tap on Copy to Kindle. You may have to swipe the icons at the top of the menu to find this option. This will open the MOBI file in the Kindle app.

Method 2 of 2: When using a MOBI reader

1. Open the App Store Tap on Search. It's in the bottom right corner of the screen.
2. Type mobi reader in the search bar. A list of results will appear.
3. Tap on DOWNLOAD at “MOBI Reader.This is the app with the blue icon where “MOBI” is written above an open book.
4. Tap on Install. The MOBI reader will now be downloaded to your iPhone or iPad.
5. Open MOBI reader. If you're still in the App Store, tap To open. Otherwise, tap the blue icon with the word "MOBI" and an open book on the home screen.
6. Navigate to the folder containing the MOBI file. If you downloaded it from your web browser, it is probably in the folder Recently downloaded.
   • If the MOBI file is stored in a cloud service such as Google Drive or Dropbox, you can add those services in the MOBI reader. Tap on edit in the top right corner of the screen, select your cloud service and follow the onscreen instructions to open the file.
7. Tap the MOBI file. This opens the file that you can then read in the MOBI reader app.
   • If the MOBI file is in the cloud, it may take a few minutes to download.
