Modern lipstick is made with a multitude of oil-based chemicals, natural oils and artificial dyes. When lipstick lands anywhere other than lips, its intense color can permanently dye materials. Fortunately, if you act quickly, you can still get the color out.

1. Check the fabric type. Again, make sure there are no special care instructions for the fabric. If there are, don't spray the lipstick with hairspray on purpose or the stain may get worse.
2. Check the fabric type. If you got lipstick on your clothes, you should check the label to determine the fabric type. Many items of clothing require special treatment, such as dry cleaning, so you may need to take it to a professional right away. If there are no instructions for any special treatment, then go ahead and get the lipstick stain out at home.
3. Use a clean paper towel or cloth. Make sure that what you choose is something you can throw away. This will absorb the colored lipstick from your clothes.
4. Determine what surface it is on. Lipstick can stain hard surfaces such as acrylic plastic, glass, porcelain dishes, stainless steel, vinyl and more. If you see the stain, get a cloth, dish soap, and ammonia.
5. Rinse and dry. Use a clean cloth to rinse and wipe dry. It will pick up any remaining lipstick from the hard surface.
