With the Life Path game you can live a full life on a game board. You can play Path of Life with 2-9 players. The game board has 3D elements and a wheel that have to be put together first, but both setting up the game and actually playing it are relatively easy. Learn the rules of Life Path and play the game with friends or family.

To step

Part 1 of 4: Assembling the game board

  1. Press the game board pieces out of the packaging and the cardboard slots out of the game board. Life Path comes with a lot of cardboard parts that you have to take apart and attach to the game board. The game also comes with some plastic pieces that must clamp in the appropriate places in the game board.
  2. Stick the stickers on the mountain and bridge pieces. Your Path of Life set comes with stickers for the mountain and bridge pieces. Stick these stickers on the pieces before attaching them to the game board.
  3. Attach the pieces to the board. Before you start playing, you need to set up the board. Attach the buildings, mountains and bridges in the correct places on the board. Each plastic piece has a letter that corresponds to a letter on the board.
    • Make sure the letter of the piece matches the letter on the game board. For example, the “J” piece in the opening should be confirmed with the letter “J”.
  4. Assemble the wheel and attach it to the board. Life Path uses a wheel instead of a die. You must first assemble the wheel and attach it to the board before playing the first game. Push the wheel out of the cardboard making sure the notches line up with the notches on the plastic dial. Then click the two parts together.
    • Then attach the rotary knob to the wheel. The wheel should have a letter that matches a letter on the board. Click the assembled wheel in the correct place on the board.

Part 2 of 4: Setting up the game

  1. Place the life signs near the board. Make sure they are all right side down. Shuffle them and place the stack next to the board. Take four life tokens and without looking at them, place them face down on the Millionaires' Villa on the game board.
  2. Sort, shuffle and make piles of the cards. The four types of cards are career, salary, title deeds, and stocks. Make sure to keep each stack of cards separate and shuffle them well. Place the stacks right side down next to the board for easy access for everyone.
  3. Find car insurance, home insurance, stocks and loans. Place these items near the game board. Players buy and borrow these items throughout the game, so you want to be able to grab them easily. Choose a place next to the game board where you can keep these items until needed.
  4. Select someone who will be the banker. The banker manages all the money that comes in and out of the bank. Make sure the person who decides to be the banker knows that he or she must collect and distribute all the money during the game. The banker starts by giving € 10,000 to each player.
  5. Let everyone choose a car and a human pin. Life's Way comes with six cars in different colors and human spiders that can fit in the cars. Make sure each player chooses a car and places a human pin in the car before placing the car on the board.

Part 3 of 4: Playing the game

  1. Decide whether you want to start a career or go to college. Before your first turn, you must decide whether you want to start the game with a career card or go to college first. There are advantages and disadvantages for both options.
    • The advantages of starting a career is that you will receive a salary faster and you are not in debt. The disadvantage of starting a career is that you will make less money and you are not allowed to take some career cards.
    • The advantage of going to university first is that you will earn more if you do get your career card. The disadvantage of going to university first is that you start with a debt of $ 40,000 and it takes longer to get your career card.
  2. Draw a career card right away if you choose to start a career. If you choose to start a career, you must choose a career card right away. Put aside any cards that indicate a college degree is required, such as the doctor's career card.
  3. If you choose to start your studies, put your car on Start University. When you start your studies, you must place your car in the Start University box. You may not take a career card yet. You may take a career card as soon as you reach the Career Selection box.
  4. Spin the wheel. Each player must spin the wheel at the start of each turn. The number you turn indicates how many steps you can take. You can only move your car forward. Walking backwards is not allowed.
  5. Read the instructions for the different colored boxes. Life Path is a colorful game and each square has its own instructions that you must read and follow. Take the time to read the basic instructions for the different colors so that you know your options.
    • Orange boxes contain instructions to follow.
    • Blue boxes contain instructions where you can choose whether or not to follow them.
    • Green boxes are Salary boxes. Receive the amount indicated on your Salary card as soon as you land on or pass a green square.
    • Red squares require you to stop walking, even if you have enough steps left to get past the red square. You have to stop as soon as you pass a red square. Follow the instructions on the box, turn the wheel and walk again.
  6. Pay when you land on a career space. The career spaces on the board correspond to the available career cards. If one of your opponents has the corresponding card, you must pay the opponent the amount indicated on the card.
    • If you own the career card yourself, you don't have to pay anything.
    • If no one owns the career card, you have to pay the amount shown on the box to the bank.
  7. Give $ 5,000 to the person with the agent career card if you turn a 10. This rule is also known as speeding ticket. If someone turns a 10, they have “ridden too fast” and must pay the person with the agent career card € 5000. If no one has the agent career card, you don't have to pay.
  8. Pay € 5000 to the accountant when you land on the “Tax” box. The accountant has an extra box on the board called “Tax”. If you land on this space, you have to pay € 5000 to whoever has the accountant career card.
    • If no one has this card, pay € 5000 to the bank.
    • If you have this card yourself, you don't have to pay anything.
  9. Decide whether you want car insurance or contents insurance. You can choose to purchase insurance at the start of one of your turns. These insurance policies give you protection for your home or car in the event of an accident (depending on which insurance you buy).
    • Car insurance costs € 10,000, but the contents insurance depends on the house you own. You can find the costs of the contents insurance on your title deed.
  10. Buy shares. You can buy a stock card at the start of your turn. A share card costs € 50,000, but if someone with the wheel spins the number on your card, you receive € 10,000 from the bank. This rule applies if you are spinning yourself or if someone else spins the wheel.
    • You may only buy one share card. You can, however, get a different share card if you land on the box “Top day on the stock market”.
  11. Take out a loan from the bank if you need it. If you are short of money, you can take out a loan of € 20,000 from the bank at the start of your turn. Keep in mind that you will have to repay this loan plus interest of € 5000 to the bank when you retire.

Part 4 of 4: Winning the game

  1. Stop walking when you reach the Retirement box. Once you reach the Retirement box, you are no longer allowed to spin the wheel, take cards, or buy things. This box indicates that you are near the end of the game. However, being the first to check the Retirement box does not automatically mean that you have won the game.
  2. Pay back your loans plus interest. The first thing you want to do when you reach the Retirement box is pay back your loans plus interest. Return this money to the bank.
  3. Put your career card, salary card, insurance and title deed aside. Also put your special cards aside. You can keep your shares. If you are ahead of your opponents, you can still cash in when they spin the wheel.
  4. Move your car to the Millionaires Villa or the Mansion. Go to the Millionaires Villa when you think you have the most money. Keep in mind that you have a chance to get the four extra life tokens that can help you win the game when you go to the Millionaires Villa. Other players can also take from this pile if the pile next to the board is empty.
    • When you move to the Landhuis, take a sign of life. No one should take this sign of life from you and you can add the value to your money at the end of the game.
  5. Have all the players on the Millionaires Villa add up their money. The player with the most money receives the last four life tokens that are on the Millionaires Villa. Then have all players (including the players on the Mansion) add up their money and the amounts on the life tokens. The player with the most money is the winner!

Tips

  • Try to experiment with different strategies (starting a career first or going to college first) when playing the game to see which route gives you the best benefits.
