Method 1 of 2: Just cut with your fingers

1. Try to cut with both hands. What could you cut with your fingers if you can't recreate your favorite scenes from West Side Story? Cutting with both hands is easy - it's just a matter of building your strength and technique in your non-dominant hand, once you've mastered the finger-snapping with your dominant hand. Any of the above techniques will work for your non-dominant hand, so experiment with them until you find the one you like the most!
   • For an extra challenge, you can try two different cutting techniques at the same time! For example, you could cut with your right hand as usual and double with the left.

Tips

• The moisture level of your hands can affect your ability to cut your fingers. If your hands are too moist or greasy to build up enough pressure (e.g., if you just applied lotion), dry them with a paper towel. On the other hand, if your hands are exceptionally dry, you can apply a tiny amount of lotion to make them more moist.
• However, some sources claim that you can cut the loudest with wet hands.
• When you snap your fingers, the sound is not created by the two fingers rubbing together - the sound is created by your finger touching the mouse of your thumb. Essentially, you're clapping your hands, but with just one finger on one side! To test this, try cutting with a tissue on your palm. The sound should be noticeably softer.
• Do not try to cut with your index finger or little finger. This is technically possible, but difficult.
• Don't put too much pressure on your fingers so you don't hurt yourself.

Warnings

• Be careful where you are when using the whiplash method. In some cultures, this is considered rude or inappropriate.
