Chromecast offers you the option to forward the Chrome window to your TV or another screen. As with all electronics, anything can go wrong. Usually the easiest way to fix a problem with your Chromecast is to do a factory reset. After that, you will have to reconfigure everything, but it should only take a few minutes.

Method 1 of 3: Using the Chromecast desktop app

1. Open the Chromecast app on your computer. You can find this on your desktop, in your Start menu, or in your Applications folder.
   • If you don't have the Chromecast app installed, you can download it from cast.google.com/chromecast/setup/
   • This method only works if you can connect to your Chromecast.
2. Select your Chromecast. If you have multiple Chromecasts connected to your network, you will have to select the dongle you want to make changes to.
3. Press the button .Settings.
4. Press the button .Factory Reset. Click on Reset to confirm. This will reset your Chromecast to factory settings. You will have to configure the Chromecast dongle again to use it.

Method 2 of 3: Using the Chromecast mobile app

1. Download the Chromecast app from the Google Play Store on your Android. You cannot perform a factory reset from your iOS app.
   • This method only works if you can connect to your Chromecast.
2. Tap the Menu button. You can find this in the top left corner
3. Tap on "Settings". This will open the Settings menu of your Chromecast.
4. Tap on "Factory reset Chromecast". After confirming, your Chromecast will return to factory settings. You will have to run the setup again.

Method 3 of 3: Using the Reset button on your Chromecast

1. Find the Chromecast on your TV. Make sure to keep it plugged in so it can be reset. The Chromecast cannot be reset when it is plugged in.
2. Press and hold the reset button. this button is located next to the Micro USB port on the end of the Chromecast dongle.
3. Press and hold the reset button for 25 seconds. The light on the Chromecast will start blinking and your TV should show the Chromecast logo along with the message "Resetting to factory defaults".
4. Reset the Chromecast. After the Chromecast has been reset, you will have to run the setup again before you can use it.
