Method 1 of 3: With your remote

1. To turn on your TV with your remote, grab the remote and press the power button.
   • Learn How to Use a Regular Television Remote to know how to use the TV remote.
   • If you have additional speakers, game consoles or DVD players, etc., keep in mind that you may need to enable them separately.

Method 2 of 3: With remote control and TV receiver

1. First, make sure the TV receiver is turned on.
   • Look at the TV receiver. Is a number displayed or is the screen blank? If a number is displayed, it is probably already on.
   • Take the remote control from the TV receiver. Sometimes it is different from the remote control for the TV.
     • On this Comcast remote, you would press the "All On" button. If this remote controls both your TV and your TV receiver, both will turn on at the same time. If it only controls your TV receiver, then move on to the next step.
2. Press the power button on the TV remote control.
   • If the TV does not turn on, there may be something wrong with the remote. Check the batteries, or press the "TV" button if it is a universal remote and try the power button again.
   • If the TV turns on, but you don't see a channel (just a blue screen, or the text "no signal"):
     • Check that the TV receiver is indeed turned on.
     • Make sure the TV is on the correct channel to get a signal from your TV receiver. In many cases this channel is "zero".

Method 3 of 3: Without remote control

1. To switch on your TV without a remote control, simply walk to the TV and press the on / off button. If you cannot find the power button, follow the steps below.
   • Read the manuals for your television if you still have them.
   • Check if your TV has a visible on / off button. This is usually in the center of the bottom panel of your TV.
   • Check the left and right sides and top of your TV, some TVs have the power button here. You can recognize it by its size, color, label, or an on / off symbol, such as the button shown here.
2. Try to locate or replace your TV remote control. First try to find your lost remote control. If you can't find the power button and don't have a TV remote, try buying a remote that works with your TV. If you have a broken remote, follow the steps below How to fix a remote to fix it.

Tips

• Do not hit your TV or remote if it does not turn on.
• Keep the manuals for any televisions or electrical appliances you purchase in a safe place for later reference if necessary.

Warnings

• AVI TVs are difficult to turn on because the power button on the AVI TV is on the bottom and the power button on the remote is somewhere in between the other buttons on the remote.
