Part 1 of 4: Applying Feng Shui to your bed

  1. Make sure you have a solid headboard. The best Feng Shui headboards are solid and wood, or upholstered. These provide an excellent combination of mass and soft, supportive Feng Shui energy for you and your bedroom. While you fall asleep, your body will begin much-needed recovery work. In the subconscious mind, your head should have good support and protection. Just like your back needs when you sit in a chair for extended periods.

  2. Buy a supportive mattress. Several mattresses are available. Choose wisely and invest in a mattress that can provide the best sleep and rest.   3. Make sure the bed is at the correct height. To allow balanced Feng Shui energy to flow under your bed, your bed should be a reasonable amount above the ground. In general, beds with drawers underneath are not good Feng Shui beds. Why not? Because the energy must be able to circulate around your body when you sleep. This is not possible if the space under your bed is blocked.

  4. Move the bed as far away from the door as possible. Place your bed in an area slightly further from the door, or diagonally from the door. Not on a straight line with the door. in other words, you want to be able to see your door while in bed; but you don't want to line up with your door. Whether it's the bedroom door, the balcony door, the bathroom door, or your closet door, you don't want to put your door right in front of a door. If you do this, too much chi will flow to your bed. Ideally, your bed should be in the diagonally opposite corner of the door.
    • If your bed is too close to the door, you may be shocked by surprises that come your way. The farther you sleep or from the door, the better prepared you are for what's to come. For this reason, your bedroom should also be as far away from the door as possible.
    • However, the door should preferably be in your line of sight. In any case, do not deviate too much from that. This will make you feel like you are in control of your life.
  5. Make sure there is a good supporting wall behind your bed. In addition to a good headboard, you also want to have a solid wall behind your bed. When you sleep under a window, your personal energy tends to weaken over time. This is because it lacks proper support and offers little protection.
  6. Place grounded and balanced energy on both sides of the bed. Place two nightstands on each side of the bed to create balance while you sleep. If possible, also place two of the same lamps on the bedside tables to add some soft lighting to your bedroom. This balance is important to keep you centered. Plus, it's essential if you want to maintain equality between you and your partner in the bedroom.
    • Opt for round rather than rectangular bedside tables. Thus, the chi energy directed towards you can be diverted. These rectangular points are called "poison arrows".
    • A small nightstand on either side of the bed is also a good way to balance the energy in your room.
  7. Place your bed as far away from televisions, desks, and / or other distractions as possible. It is best to remove your desk and television from your bedroom altogether. That way, your bedroom really becomes a place where you can rest and relax. However, we all have limited space. So if you do have a television or desk in your room, move them as far away from your bed as possible - so they won't hinder the flow of positive energy to the bed. If you can, put a light scarf or blanket over the television or desk. Or cover them with a Japanese folding cabinet to create even more space.
    • Place your TV in a cabinet or cover it with a cover to help it blend into your space.

Part 2 of 4: Avoiding negative energy

  1. Avoid mirrors and mirror doors that face your bed. If these mirrors are installations you can't get rid of, drape them with a piece of fabric. It is said that unless they are covered they can disturb your sleep. In general, it is better not to have mirrors in your bedroom, especially if you are sharing them with a romantic partner. Mirrors give space to unfaithfulness. Mirrors also have far too much energy for such a restful place.
    • If you'd like to have a mirror in your room, place it on the inside of a closet door and only access it when you need it.
  2. Do not try to place your bed directly under a light source. A light source can create a feeling of pressure that can disturb your sleep. If you have no other options, cover the light source with some fabric. You can also choose to hang two bamboo flutes on the lamp, with the mouthpieces down. This will prevent unwanted energy from being directed down from above the bed. The idea behind this is that you don't want to feel threatened in your sleep.
  3. Avoid fountains and other water sources. Also, do not hang pictures or paintings of water, and do not place an aquarium in the room. These may provoke financial loss or theft. Keep all water-related things out of the bedroom if you want to create the best Feng Shui possible.
    • If you are a fan of fountains and water art, put them in a bathroom.
  4. Keep plants and flowers out of the room. Plants are said to have too much yang, which causes too much energy and activity to enter your room for proper rest. If you don't have another place for your plants, try placing them out of your sight.
  5. Try not to pile up clutter around your bed, and don't put your bed against the wall with one side. As a result, the Chi cannot circulate, which may cause disturbances in your intimate life.   7. Keep your books elsewhere. You can keep a few books in your room if you like reading yourself to sleep, but too many books can overwhelm you in the space. The bedroom is a place for rest and relaxation. If you keep too many books there, it looks too much like a workplace.

Part 4 of 4: Making other considerations

  1. Think of your bedroom as an oasis. Your bedroom should be your sanctuary. A place where you can escape the stress of everyday life - whether that stress is caused by your work, your children, your health, or your friendships. It shouldn't be a place where you throw all the extra things you don't have room for. On the contrary, it should be an oasis in the middle of a desert. A place where you can go to rest, or simply need a break.
    • Never bring unnecessary items or negative energy into your bedroom and over time you will start to respect the space more.
  2. Provide mood lighting. For the best Feng Shui, avoid bright, bright lighting in the bedroom. Instead, opt for table lamps with soft light, and try to capture as much natural light as possible through the window.   6. Get rid of clothes you no longer wear. Dig through your closets and throw away any clothes you haven't worn in a year. Donate these items, or give them to a friend or family member if they can still be worn. While you often don't even see your old clothes, keeping them prevents you from taking on new opportunities.
  7. Avoid photos of friends or family members "looking at you". You can safely keep a few important photos in your bedroom, but avoid crowds of people in the room. You may feel like you are being watched and become overwhelmed by it. The same also applies to religious images.
  8. Make sure your bedroom is not overcrowded. Keep your bedroom as simple and spacious as possible. Do not put in extra chairs, lamps or pictures. Especially if you're not sure you should. The more things you have in your room, the more difficult it will be to find balance.
  9. Get rid of the mess. To achieve optimal Feng Shui in your bedroom, you need to get rid of trash, old things, paper, stupid photos, useless presents, or whatever else you don't really need.
