Since you rarely send messages to your own number or call your own cell phone, remembering your own number isn't all that important to most people, especially those who use postpaid services and don't need to provide their contact information. However, remembering your mobile number can be important. You can give your contact information to people if you don't have a business card with you. If you don't know or have forgotten your number, you can identify it via your SIM. If you know your phone number and are trying to find your SIM card serial number (ICCID), use this article. The ICCID is also often printed directly on the SIM card.

To step

Method 1 of 7: Ask the provider

  1. Take the SIM card with you to a store that sells it. If you find an old SIM card but don't have a phone to test it, take it to a store that sells SIM cards from the same provider. The staff there will usually be able to identify the number.
  2. Call the provider. If you have a working phone but don't want to use it to activate the SIM card, find the provider's customer service number listed on the SIM card. Almost all SIM cards have a serial number printed directly on it. Give this number to the person answering your call and ask for the number associated with the card.
  3. Understand how new SIM cards work. Many carriers do not assign a phone number to the SIM card until it is activated. If you buy a brand new SIM card, it might not have a number at all. When you place it in a phone to activate, you will be assigned a number.

Method 2 of 7: Using a phone's SIM card

  1. Use the help codes from your provider. A few service providers have a special code that you can call or text that automatically displays the mobile number:
    • T-mobile customers can # NUM # Call (# 686 #).
    • EE customers can speak Number text to 150.
    • Vodafone customers can make calls to *#1001.
    • O2 customers can try NUMBER to text to 2020.
    • Telstra prepaid customers can #150# dial.
    • Other providers may or may not offer this feature. Try to search online for other providers followed by "phone codes". As of March 2017, this service is not available from AT&T and Verizon.
  2. Call your service provider. Some SIM cards do not display their number within the settings of a phone. In these cases, you may need to call and ask for your SIM card's service provider.
    • If you call from a phone with an unknown number on the SIM card, the carrier may be able to detect the number automatically. If this is not the case, keep the SIM card at hand so that you can read the serial number.
  3. Send a text message or call another phone. Use the SIM card whose number you want to know. Any phone with caller ID will detect your SIM card number, unless you use a private number.

Method 3 of 7: iPhone

Using your phone's settings

  1. Open "Settings". Tap the gear icon to open your iPhone settings screen.
  2. Click on "Phone". Select "Phone" from the list of options in the "Settings" menu.

    • Skip this step if this popup does not appear.
  4. Click "Cancel" when prompted to sync. Some users see a popup asking if you want to erase and sync the phone. If this happens, click "Cancel". Syncing with someone else's computer can delete all music on your phone.
    • Skip this step if this popup does not appear.
  5. Click the "Devices" button in iTunes. The location of the button depends on the version of iTunes you are using:
    • iTunes 12: Click the small button with a picture of a phone in the top left corner.
    • iTunes 11: Click the button that says "iPhone" in the top right corner. If you don't see it, click "Library" in the top right corner to exit the store. If you still don't see it, select "View" from the drop-down menu, then select "Hide Sidebar".
    • iTunes 10 and earlier: Search for "Devices" in the left sidebar. Click on the name of your device below that word.

    • LG Optimus Quantum: Menu → Settings → Applications → Phone → Search for "My phone number"

Method 6 of 7: Blackberry phone

  1. Check out more apps. Swipe left on the screen to see more apps on your Blackberry phone.
  2. Open the settings. Tap the gear icon on the app screen to open the Blackberry system settings screen.

Warnings

  • Some carriers automatically cancel SIM cards if they have not been used for a certain period of time. If you are unable to activate an old SIM card, it may not be usable.
