As a student or teacher, sign in to Google Classroom by entering your account information in the Google Classroom app. To do this, your school or institution must be registered with a "Google Workspace for Education" account. Also make sure you are logged into Google Chrome with the email address you received from your school.

Method 1 of 2: Register with Google Classroom

  1. Open one blank page in Google Chrome. If you don't have Google Chrome on your computer yet, you can download it for free from any other browser.
  2. Click on the "People" icon at the top right of the window. This is located to the left of the minimize button and looks like an icon of a person.
    • If someone is already signed in to Chrome, you will see their name there.
  3. Select the "Log in to Chrome" option. Here you will be asked to enter the correct Chrome account information.
    • If someone else is signed in to Chrome, click "Other Person" instead.
  4. Enter your school email address and then click "Next". Keep in mind that this cannot be your personal email address, but only the email address that the school has given you.

  6. Click "Login" to log in to Chrome with your school account. Then you come back to the blank page you started with.

    • You can also click the "Apps" menu at the top left of a new tab and then click "Webstore" at the bottom of the page. Then click on "Google Classroom" and install the app on your device.
  8. Scroll down and then click the "Student" or "Teacher" button. Teachers are now taken to a page to set up their class, while an input box prompts students for their class code.
  9. Enter your class code if you are a student. You should have received this code from your teacher before the start of your lessons.
  10. Click on "Join" to join the class. You are now successfully enrolled and logged in to Google Classroom.

Method 2 of 2: Sign in to Google Workspace for Education

  2. Navigate to the website of Google Workspace for Education. Google Workspace for Education lets you use a variety of apps - including Google Classroom - that you can use as a teacher completely free of charge.
  3. Click on "To Google Workspace for Education" at the bottom of the page. This is a large blue button in the center of the screen. By clicking on this, you will be taken to the page where you can create an account.
  4. Click the blue "Get Started" button right next to "Compare Versions".
  5. Accept or decline the help that is offered to you in a pop-up window. Clicking the gray "I need help" button will take you through the process step by step, while you can do it on your own if you click the "Got it" button.

  14. Click on "Accept and register". Read the terms and conditions before doing this. After this your account has been created.
  15. Go to the Admin console. Here you must demonstrate that the website and the mail service you have provided belong to an educational institution.
  16. Click "Add Account". Now enter the email address you just entered as your "administrator" email address.
