The F chord is one of the most difficult guitar chords to learn, but it is also a very important one. There are many different ways to play an F major chord — this article will show you the three most commonly used ways, as well as some helpful tips on how to make practicing a little easier. Keep playing. The most important thing to do when it comes to playing difficult chords is just keep practicing. Don't skip songs just because they have a tricky F chord! Practice playing your F chord for at least a few minutes every day and soon you'll be wondering what the problem was.
Tips
- If you are barré on only the 1st and 2nd strings, try not to strike the 6th and 5th strings.
- Practice changing chords to get better at playing the F chord (e.g. C, F, G chords)
- For a fuller sound, barre all strings and place the little finger on the 5th string (A), 3rd fret
