This wikiHow teaches you how to use Command Prompt to open Control Panel in Windows.

To step

1. Open the Start menu. Click on the Windows logo at the bottom left of the screen, or press the key ⊞ Win.
   • In Windows 8, hover your mouse in the top right corner of the screen, then click on the magnifying glass.
2. Type command prompt in Start. The command prompt icon appears as a search result at the top of the Start window.
3. click on Command Prompt. This is a black rectangle at the top of the Start window. A drop-down menu will appear.
4. Type start control in the command prompt. This command opens the Control Panel.
5. Press ↵ Enter. This will execute the assignment. Shortly after, the Control Panel will open.

Tips

• In Windows 10, right-click the Start icon (or press ⊞ Win+X), to open the advanced user menu. You'll find the Command Prompt option in this place.

Warnings

• If you are using a shared PC or network computer, you may not be able to open the command prompt.
