Grand Theft Auto 4 is one of the latest games from the GTA franchise that is also available on the personal computer. This means you can play and enjoy the game even without a game console. Although it is not that easy compared to loading the game on an Xbox or a Playstation, installing GTA 4 on a computer is still very easy. And you only have to do this once.

Part 1 of 3: Loading the installer

Using a DVD copy

1. Open the DVD player of your computer. Press the button on your computer's DVD player to open the drive.
2. Insert the GTA 4 installation DVD. Place your index finger in the center hole of the DVD and your thumb on the side to hold the DVD in place as you insert it into the drive.
3. Close the DVD player. Press the button on the DVD player on your computer again to close the drive slot.
4. Wait for the computer to finish reading the disc. A small window will appear where you can choose a setup language.
5. Choose a language. Click on the drop-down list and select the language you want to use. Click "OK" after selecting a language.
   • The Rockstar Social Club window, which installs the game on your computer, appears.

Using a copy of the software

1. Download a virtual DVD-ROM to read the digital copy of the GTA installer. A widely used virtual DVD-ROM is Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/products/dtLite). Click the download link on the web page to install the program on your computer.
2. Load the installer into the virtual drive. Double-click on the game's installation file and it should automatically open with and mount to the virtual drive.
3. Open "My Computer" from your desktop. In this folder you will see one of the virtual drives with the GTA 4 installer.
4. Run the virtual DVD-ROM. Right-click on the virtual drive and select "Run Automatically" from the pop-up menu. A small window will appear where you can choose a setup language.
5. Choose a language. Click on the drop-down list and select the language you want to use. Click "OK" after selecting a language.
   • The Rockstar Social Club window, which will install the game on your computer, will appear.

Part 2 of 3: Installing Rockstar Social Club (Initial Setup)

1. Begin the installation. Press "Next" on the very first Welcome screen of the Rockstar Social Club window to begin the installation.
2. Accept the license agreement. Read the license agreement displayed in the window and click the radio button "I accept the terms of the license agreement".
   • Click the "Next" button again to continue.
3. Choose a location on your computer where you want to install Rockstar Social Club. By default, the program will be installed in the program files folder on your computer. Click "Next" again to start the installation of the Social Club to this location.
   • If you prefer to install the program in a different location, click the "Browse" button and navigate to where you want the game placed before clicking Next.
4. Wait for Rockstar Social Club to finish installing. This will only take a few minutes.

Part 3 of 3: Installing GTA 4

1. Begin the installation. Immediately after Social Club is installed on your computer, the Grand Theft Auto 4 installation window will appear. Press "Next" on the very first Welcome Screen of Grand Theft Auto 4 to begin the installation.
2. Click on "Next". A few notifications for the Games for Windows Live and Rockstar Social Club will appear in the installation window. Click on the "Next" button to continue the process.
3. Choose the installation type you want to use. Click on the radio button "Typical" to choose this setup and indicate that you have all the necessary files to run the game.
4. Choose where you want to install the game on your computer. The game is installed in the Applications folder by default. Click "Next" again to install the game to this location.
   • If you want to install the program in a different location, click the "Browse" button and navigate to the location where you want to install the game before clicking "Next".
5. Wait for the game to install. It will take a few minutes to complete the installation. Once you are done you can start the game and start playing Grand Theft Auto 4.
   • During the installation process, you will be asked to insert the second installer CD; Follow Part 1 as mentioned above for installation with DVD or game downloaded, to continue the process.

Tips

• Before purchasing and installing the game on your computer, please read the system requirements first to ensure that the game can run smoothly on your system.
• If the game won't install on your PC, you may need to upgrade your hardware, such as the memory and / or graphics card, so that your computer can run the game.
