In this article you will learn exactly how to upload (or "pin") a photo to Pinterest with your computer or smartphone.

Method 1 of 2: Using the Pinterest app on an iPhone, iPad or Android phone

1. Open Pinterest. The app has a white background with a red circle on it. In this circle is an italic white one P..
   • If you are not automatically logged in, you can now use your username and password or log in via Facebook.
2. Press the profile icon. On an iPhone or iPad, this is a silhouette at the bottom right of the screen. If you have an Android device, you will find the icon at the top right of the screen.
3. Press ➕. This button can be found at the top right of the screen.
4. Press Photo. This button can be found in the menu under the heading "Pin".
   • Give Pinterest access to the images on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone.
5. Press a photo. Select the photo you would like to put on Pinterest.
6. Add a description. In the text field at the top of the screen you can optionally add a description of the image.
7. Select a plate. Tap the board you want to add the photo to.
   • On Pinterest, "Boards" are categories you can organize photos into, such as "Food" and "Art". Boards form folders to which you can always add new photos.
   • Press Making a plate to add a new category to your profile.
   • Add as many photos as you want.
8. Press ✖️. This button can be found at the top left of the screen. The photos you selected have now been added to Pinterest and can be seen on the boards where you posted them.
   • On your profile page, scroll down to view your boards and press a board to see the photos that have been added.

Method 2 of 2: With the Pinterest website on your computer

1. Go to Pinterest. If you are not automatically logged in, you can now use your username and password or log in via Facebook.
2. Click on ➕. This button can be found on the Pinterest website at the bottom right of the screen.
3. Click Upload Pin. This button can be found roughly in the middle of the menu.
4. Click Select Image. This red button can be found in the dialog box.
5. Select a photo. Use the dialog to select the image you want to upload.
6. Click on Open. This button can be found at the bottom right of the dialog box.
7. Add a description. You can now add a description to the photo in the text field below the photo.
8. Select a plate. Select the board you want to place the photo on from the menu on the right side of the dialog box.
   • click on Making a plate to add a new category to your profile.
9. Click on Save. This button will now appear next to the board. You have now posted the selected photo to Pinterest.
   • To view your photo on the board you selected, click Watch now in the dialog box.
